Default Thinking of upgrading to K&N filter

Hey everyone,

I am thinking of upgrading to K&N filter for my truck. Is there any pointers for my truck, do you think I will benefit from it?

I am looking to improve performance and MPG

if your talking about air filter, as in cold air intake, it won't do much but sound real good. Lol

Well that would not be a bad idea either. Do I have to do any mods to accommodate this filter or can I just install it after removing the stock

No other mods are necessary, pull the old one out, slap the new one in.

You won't notice much difference if any at all, but at least you'll have a filter you'll never have to deal with replacing. Just clean it and re-oil it every 20-25k miles and it should outlast the truck...

Be prepared for your mileage to drop....a cai on these engines makes it sound like it has a big ol 4 barrel on it. You will constantly be on the gas just so you can hear it...lol

for air filter, if you want a nice drop in. the aem dry flow is great. I had the k&n in my old frontier and it was great too. Only difference is the aem doesn't need re-oiling after a clean. And jkeaton is right, if you go cai instead of drop in the mpg will drop a little..happens on quite a few vehicles from what i've seen. Also if your interested, if you go k&n i still have the re-oil kit from the frontier i could sell you cheap.(only used once)

Ok well I am looking to increase MPG and get more power. I also would like to get better sound more sound preferable. I have the 3.7 v6. Other than exhaust which I would be looking at next, I just thought I would start with the least expensive before investing in a whole lot more.
