Default gift from my wife

Hey all, I got a 10 piece air tool set from craftsman (http://www.sears.com/craftsman-10-pc...1&blockType=G1) from the wife for my birthday. I had a couple questions on it before I broke it out. I read the manuals but they are pretty vague and it it didn't fully answer my questions.

Do I need to do anything special to them before I use them? or can I just hook them up and go.

What kind of maintenance do I need to perform on them and how often? I see a spot for oil on the impact driver but can't find anywhere that says that kind of oil to use.

Thanks, sorry for the stupid questions, I would rather ask them and keep my tools working than guess and break my new toys.

Its just oil called "air tool oil", you can find that stuff anywhere just ask any hardware store, a few drops down the air intake every time before you use the gun will make them last forever.

If you have a air system that has a lot of water in it, a few drops before using, and then a few drops after will help.

I have used ATF fluid in my air tools for years. I still have an impact from 1987 Blue point brand. The tools are used daily. Just add a couple drops in the air intake before each use.

ya just oil them daily, and if you end up using them a LOT, they have oilers that attach to the "manifold block" to your air compressor... http://www.harborfreight.com/air-too...tor-68227.html (if using this setup, make sure that you have an "oil" connect and hose, and a "dry" connect and hose) (there are types of these that have adjustable oil rates, highly recommended) they also sell oilers that mount onto your tool or a short hose between your tool and dry air hose. http://www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/NNSRIT...-SearchResults

Just be ware that the big impacter doesnt put out much power. It is good for some things, but it is not all that powerfull. I have that set, and I had to take my first set back cause the 1/2" impact was darn weak. (I had it on 90+ psi with way over 55 gallons probably 150 of air to back it up) I got my second one, and it barely managed to break some lugnuts loose off of our work vans.

Some air tools have a grease sert. Use a chainsaw bar grease gun. It works great and extends the life of the tool
