Default What the f*&%!!

alright so fair heads up for ppl Riding a 2008 Dakota

What doesnt fit your truckwithout extra upgrades....

Rancho Quick Lift Struts- Springs are to big they will rub against tires and theyre to long

Rough Country Leveling Kit for the Dakota and Raider- this one the strut extensions fit perfect and everything but your upper control arm isnt long enough

These Headlights.... http://www.k2motor.com/05-07-dodge-d...og-lights.html
NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!

And if your buying new rims getting 17x9 wheels you will need spacers after youu have the right offset and everything top of the rim is to close to the upper control arm

So after all that this guy is back to square one and wasted a ton of money LOL FML!

Rancho Quick Lift Struts I dont think are available or atleast made for the 05+ Dakotas. I know a few people have asked.
How big of a Leveling kit did you get, I know a few people had to use some tricks to get the arms back together. like a Strap around the axle of a Floor jack and around the upper arm so it pulls the upper arm down and lifts the lower up.

Those headlights in the ad are meant for 05-07 Dakotas, not 08+
The front end of the Dakota changed in 2008.

Both my sets of rims are OEM so I dont have any offset issues, I think mine are 16x7 Steel and 16x8 Aluminum Rims.
I think with 17x9 your 1 inch father in then OEM would be, or 1/2", spacers should fix it, But Im no tire expert, Depending on the tire you might rub the splash guard to.

Fitment in Ad:
2005-2008 Dodge Dakota Laramie
2005-2008 Dodge Dakota SLT
2005-2008 Dodge Dakota Sport
2005-2008 Dodge Dakota ST
2008 Dodge Dakota SXT
2008 Dodge Dakota TRX
2008 Dodge Dakota TRX4
Id go after a full refund, They listed it to fit and it doesnt.

Also for the Headlights I dont think those type are out for 2008+ Dakotas. Just the normal ones, with Chrome or Black Trim.

Kings,

Well, I'm not sure where you got your Rancho Quicklift struts...seeing is how they are not available for our trucks (05-12). My assumption is that they are for a Ram and sold under a false description.

Rough Country kits are typically well controlled. There have been several members that have had difficulties installing the leveling kits. Most commonly, the difficulties are because of the geometry of our suspension. If your upper control arms were "actually" not long enough, you would have gone through 10 sets of tires in 10 weeks, as you would have excessive negative camber.

Clearly, the advertisement on the headlights is inaccurate. Those are for 05-07 only, as they did the front facia change in 08.

As far as the wheels go, I'm assuming that your indication of backspacing was misunderstood when selecting your wheels. When selecting wheel size and configurations, there is one variable that requires a little bit of mathematics to understand: offset. A 17x8 wheel with a zero offset has a different backspacing than a 17x9 wheel with a zero offset. If you had 17x8s with a zero offset, and ordered 17x9s with a zero offset, you just increased your backspacing by .5" (half of an inch), thus creating a rubbing issue on the control arm. If I recall correctly, the factory 17x8s have a 12mm+ offset (should be a 5" backspacing). If you went with a 17x9 wheel, to keep the 5 inch backspacing, you would need a 0mm offset.

Some additional wheel information. If you are rubbing bad on the control arm, then you have a wheel with a higher offset than desirable. A lower offset, such as zero stated above, will push out the wheel too far with a 9" wide wheel. (Just my opinion, as the tire would be sticking out too much from the fenders). I have a 9" wide wheel, with an offset of 19mm, which causes the tire only rubs so slightly on the sway bar (on ONE side only) at full turn. And that's only because I have a wider tire than most, 285mm. If I had 265's, there would be no rubbing whatsoever.

Another guy had 9" wide wheels with an offset of 25mm and tires that were 285's, and he rubbed on both sides on the front sway bar and frame at full turn. That 6mm of offset made quite a difference in rubbing. A perfect offset on a 9" wide wheel is 18mm, an offset which is available on a lot of wheels from various manufacturers.

A higher offset increases your backspace (pulls the wheel in toward the frame & suspension).
A lower offset lowers your backspace (pushes the wheel out farther from the frame & suspension).

You only need to worry about ONE of those measurements when selecting a wheel. Each of those measurements changes the other, so if you get one correct, the other will also be correct.
The width of the wheel (7", 8", or 9") will change the desirable offset and backspacing of each size.

Like I said above, on a 9" wide wheel, an offset of 18 is perfect. Which is also the same as 5.7" of backspacing.

Curious, what offset did you get on the new wheels?
