I have a 2009 Dakota and it has TPMS. I wanted to put on my winter tires so I got some used steel rims for cheap and they do not have the TPMS sending units in the tires. I thought it would be no big deal just have the alert symbol on all the time but I could live with that. Here is the problem, I took off the front drivers side tire off and put on the steel rim no problem all good tires turns, then took off the front passengers side tire and put on the steel rim and I could not turn turn the tire so I then tired to move to the truck and it started put it gear but would not go anywhere. So I took off one of the steel rims and put the factory rim on and it turned again so I took off the other steel rim and the factory on. What going on? The only thing I can thin off there has to at least 3 TPMS senors on the truck and it has a security featured not letting the truck move....Anyone?????
Well the offset is the same the steel rims came off of a 2001 ram 1500. When it warms up I well have to put one on and see if its binding on something. Thanks for the info.
Usually any binding will come from the brake caliper. You may just need to dress the high spot(s) with a grinder, if the amount of material to be removed is small.
