Default HELP! Tranny downshifting HARD....

TODAY outta the blue my truck started shifting really weird. hesitation when it downshifts and then all of a sudden BAM it will down shift. but not in the correct gear. ive never seen anything like it. it shifts fine going up thru the gears, but any time it starts to lug and i give it some gas it will struggle to find the correct gear. On my way home the check engine light came on so its getting serious. im worried it will become mechanical if its not addressed asap. by the way i am running a superchips perfromance tune so i wonder if thats to blame. guys, any ideas on how to find out the issue or does any one have an idea whats going on? its my daily driver and vital that i am still getting to work..

First, have it scanned to see what code it's throwing.

Your superchips tuner should be able to read the code for you, that will at least give you an idea of what might be going on.

You still need to know what code it threw. Even though the light went out, it is stored, so go to autozone and get it scanned for free.

My 2006 4.7 Dakota QC just did the same thing to me today when I was a long hill. The check engine light came on so I hooked up my SC and it showed Code P0068 (manifold pressure/throttle position correlation). 1sikeuro, did you get the info on the code on your truck and is the same as mine. Could the throttle body be dirty and is it easy to clean?

I took off my throttle body (very easy) and cleaned it with carb cleaner and a lint free rag. It was pretty dirty with carbon build up. It is now running smooth. I haven't tried it on a steep grade yet but drove it around the same area that I was having trouble on sunday morning when it popped a code. Hopefully this may help you out. Keeping my fingers crossed that I solved my problem.
