a 318/360 would be harder than my swap was.... honestly a lot harder.

An 08 engine might be difficult too. It depends on the firing order, which should be the same, and the cam/crank tone wheel and hall effect sensors. The rest in theory should be the same or at least swappable from the 05+ engine.

If the newer engine uses the same cam and crank wheels as 05 engines, then the swap is super easy. After that you need an 08+ to 05+ throttle body adapter, which AIRRAM.com has available already for intake manifold swaps.

As far as programming, if the sensors, cam and crank wheel are the same or simply swappable from the old engine, then it's just a matter of tuning your existing PCM through SCT.

The original isn't even worth rebuilding?

The 08 is drive by wire so you need the throttle as well.
Could get interesting for programing if you have an automatic.
mother trucker why is this engine so hard to find!!!! was my 05 4.7 magnum a engine they made for one year or did i get the only person who maintains their vehicles terribly.

I sold my 4.7, same as yours exactly, to a guy in Washington. It's not a rare engine per-say, it's the truck itself that's rare. Having only sold just under 300,000 3rd gens from 05 to 12, anything on our trucks is hard to find. Luckily 05-07 being best sellers, means it's not as bad as finding parts for the 08+

I will say, the 4.7 in Durangos, Rams, and Jeeps will fit your truck if things like the oil pan and pickup tube, exhaust manifolds are switched over.

Having done the swap myself, in my garage, with homedepot tools and a makeshift ceiling hoist, I have to ask the question. Why not a hemi swap?
