Default Rear Disc Brakes - From a Ram?

I have a rear drum issue on my 08, and have been thinking about discs anyhow.

Looking at the parts on a RAM, I'm thinking that a direct swap is possible. Anybody have any thoughts? If I can find a 3rd gen 1500 with rear discs at my U-Pull yard, I might have a go for a few bucks.

I would thinik if it's a 9.25 should be a direct swap.

Well, I've found a nice late-model Grand Cherokee with rear discs. Looks like it might just bolt right up. I might grab the parts and see about installing them next spring. My only concern is pulling the rear axles to get the backing plate changed. Likely due for a rear-end fluid change by then anyhow, so it might just happen.

EDIT: Never mind . . . . looks like the backing plates are different because the rear end is a dana rather than the corporate unit.

Default I went through this search too

I came across this and they specifically list a conversion kit for 2005+ Dakota with parking brake. I haven't pulled the trigger yet but am tempted when it comes time for brakes again.

Where's the fun in a bolt-on kit that isn't rusted on to something else to start with . . .

And $635 there makes it totally unaffordable here.

You're in Canada. Just open the box and let it set for a few hours. It'll rust....

I was also thinking myself about snagging stuff off a Ram 1500 but not sure what year is the best to use. I was reading that the some 2010 and later Ram's went to an updated differential setup so not sure if that had any impact on the axle housing also. I also can't find confirmation that the axle end bolt patterns are the same between the Ram and Dakota. If I can find a complete rear end with discs for cheap out or a Ram locally it would be worth the test. Am guessing anything from about 2005 to 2009 would be ideal.
