Switching back to conventional oil
I changed over to synthetic oil on my last change. Since switching, I have had to add half a quart twice. My truck has 70,000 miles and till this, never had to add oil between changes.
I am thinking of switching back to conventional !! Any thoughts on doing this? I have researched it on the web and it is supposed to be safe to do so.
Hoping I haven't damaged any seals or gaskets

Synthetic oil tends to clean things better, so, if you had some marginal gaskets.... you probably have leaks now, and changing back to conventional may or may not solve that. In any event, you can just switch back to conventional oil at your next change, with no ill effects.
I run synthetic and usually have to add 1/2 - 1 qt also between changes. It's because of the longer interval I think, haven't spotted any leaks on mine. in 10,000 miles or more you're going to lose a little.
Theres a lot of different opinions on this. Myself, i just change oil once a year. The most I've gone is 11,500 on mine. Been doing it since I've owned the truck - 2008. Think I'm on my 9th oil change.
It's been a year, but only 8,000 miles. Guess I'll change it this week. Can't decide if I should switch back.

I can understand going back to conventional if it's caused leaks. It's usually around that 7-8000 mile point that I have to top off. I'm kind of lazy, so I really like the once a year interval. Plus once a year they do a rebate on the oil I use which actually makes it cheaper for me to run synthetic, and superior protection on top of that. I can't see myself going back.
I had this issue too with mine when I first switched around 89k. There were leaks. What brand/weight are you using? I found that the synthetic oils made for high mileage will stop the leak because they add the extra additives that prevent leaks and don't cause seals to shape shift. Mobil 1, Valvoline and Castrol make a version of this oil. My 4.7 is suppose to have 5w20 and I've always put 10w30 since going to full synthetic. I'm at almost 190k and never had a leak since.

Been using 5W30 since I bought the truck new, so I used the same when I switched. Truck is 06 Dakota ST 3.7 with 70K. Had 62K when I changed it last. Always changed every 3000 miles when using conventional and never added oil between changes.
