Decided to continue on this thread.

The Dakota did pass NYSI !! But we're still having a bit of a quirk that I'd love to solve.

As I might have mentioned- The last owner bypassed the right side turn signal. The wire (I think it's white/orange) that used to feed the right rear turn signal was cut and bypassed to the trailer connector. While this does work the turn signal, we're getting a few errors in the system that are a bit annoying.

The 'light problem' indicator on the cluster will chime and light up at random. It's giving a body code that states a circuit fault (B1648. Right Rear turn lamp control circuit high) Of course it's "High" the wire is hanging by a few inches where it exits the wire loom.

I ran the test light from a good ground to that wire after stripping it back a bit. Had the wife run the turn signals. That wire is 100% dead. It looks like the harnesses all run to a main connector set of C105 and C106. I suspect the wire is broken from where it used to connect to the RR turn signal to that connector. Given how much rodent activity we've found, it wouldn't surprise me if the wire was chewed through.

The manual states these connectors are located 'Lower right rear' of engine compartment. Now IMO that's kinda silly. The harnesses all run along the left side of the truck and of course go 'over' the fuel tank.

Does anyone have experience or perhaps any helpful hints or tricks to locating that connector? This is likely going to be a 'spring' project, as crawling around the ground when it's this muddy likely won't happen. I'm thinking either snagging the harness from those connectors (C105 and C106) and just replacing it as a whole. Or locating that wire at the connector and running a new wire from that connector to the light socket and just bypass that bad wire completely. FWIW- The harness within the wire loom appears to be okay for a visual inspection. However, I can't access it over the fuel tank, and the chances of green crust at the front connector is always possible.

The only side effect of running it the way it is- Just the random 'chime' and of course it runs the right turn signal at the 'super-fast flashes'. All the bulbs are 100% fine, the only issue we could trace it back to would be the wiring of that bulb into the trailer side of the harness. So naturally the truck thinks that bulb is blown.

Thanks!! If I can help confuse this anymore- Just let me know. As mentioned, it's flashing and working. Just annoying.

S-
