Default Air bag warning lights

I removed the seats to install a new carpet and I forgot to disconnect the battery. Now I have the yellow passenger "seat air bag off" warning light over the radio and the red airbag icon on the dash. I tried disconnecting the battery and cycling the key but it remains on. Should I take it to a dealer to have it reset or buy the correct OBD2 sensor with it SRS capability? On a budget.....

I know there are sensors under the passenger seat but I cannot Trace any wires to a connector that was under the carpet. The only wire was on the driver side seat. In fact I don't even know how the sensors can work in the passenger side if it's not connected to some kind of electric going into the floor. I believe there are four sensors on each corner of the seat and I made sure they're all plugged in securely but I don't know where those sensor leads go to

Likely going to need a scanner that can read the airbag system, to get you pointed in the right direction..... What year is your truck?

I had the same issue a while back after removing the front passenger seat, even after disconnecting the battery. The only solution for me was a trip to the dealer to reinitialize the sensors in the 'Weight Sensing System' in the passenger seat. You'll need the Starscan tool do it, no OBDII or SRS scanner is going to help.

It's an 06, 3rd gen. I don't remember unplugging any connectors from under the passenger seat. So how do the sensors detect somebody sitting without the wires connected to the main harness. Unless they are conducted through the bolts to the frame and tie into the driver's seat under the floor for a positive connection. I just want to avoid removing the passenger seat again because it's connected to the driver's seat via the armrest and it's a real pain in the *** to remove.

Default Airbag light problem resolved

It seems as if I overlooked the passenger side connector plug to the seat when I installed the new carpet. I didn't have to remove the seat I just felt underneath it until I felt a lump that was movable. It was the missing connector to the passenger seat. Plugged it in and now my airbag light is no longer on the instrument cluster or above the radio bezel. Good thing I still had the old carpet in my trash. I laid it all out and saw there was a slit under the passenger side seat which obviously means there's a wire that come through there. I found it, it's all good thanks for your help guys.
