Twice when I started her up in the morning (temp in the teens/20's) and put her into gear she rev'd but barely moved. This lasted about 3 or 4 seconds and then I got the normal tranny response. Is this a major issue or is it normal for this tranny to do this when cold? I've never had this with any other vehicle. Also, the travel on the brake pedal seems to have increased. Is this normal?

Do you have the automatic transmission? I have the manual tranny and mine has started up just fine even in < 10 degree weather. So maybe you just got a lucky truck. Which would suck majorly.

 

don't worry, it is prefectly normal for the auto trans behind the 4.7's (I assume the 3.7's too) to sound like it is taking off and be kind of sluggish/non-responsize when everything is cold. I can't explain the reasons why as I forget, my 02 did the same thing. But again, no worries, it's normal

I wouldnt worry about it,I have an 05 4.7L Auto and on cold mornings I get the same response.

i get the same thing, let it sit for a few seconds (10 or so) running before you start going. this seems to help with it a lot.

 

I forgot to say, expanding on what cjwr said, if you sit at idle after you start it IN GEAR for about a minute or more, it helps speed up the warming of the trans fluid as the fluid starts to circulate and get warm. This will help minimize the jet engine sound

So is that a recall or shouldnt we worry about it, i had a recall done to my 2005 dakota already it was something to do with the parking brake it was a small peice on the tranny, if it was in park and idling it could come out of park by itself, my tranny has done that same thing when i would start it up in the morning and about a few blocks away about the third stop sign, it would do that slippin thing,

It's not a recall, it's a service bulletin. They are very different. Have it done only if you're having the problem that's described.
