Transmission is screwed
well, my transmission suddenly started slipping out of nowhere.....friday it was fine, then i got in it saturday and the tranny was slipping BADLY, which inturn made the check engine light come on.
so i gotta take my truck to the dealer on tuesday, but i have a question....should i remove my intake and put the stock airbox back on? i know it has nothing to do with the tranny, and i read the "Warrenty" thing that Frency stickyed to the top, but i wanna know if i should do it just to be safe.
i dont even have 10000 miles on my truck on the tranny is seriously shot. i cant really explain it, but ive had some friends ride in it and they all agree that the tranny is a goner and will probably have to be rebuilt...
i hope its a lemon really, because i would either trade it in for a 06 nightrunner with t3h 6speed or for a used STI
anyways, let me know what you guys think

I can't say how bad your trans is but two days after delivery or 106 miles I was on way to work and at 70+ mph the trans decides to shift itself into second and stayed there. No first no anything but second. I limped it back into the dealer (late for work LOL) and they had to replace a module as they put it. Now my Trans is leaking bad enough the there are drips in the driveway. So that’s also on my long growing list. It goes in Wednesday. Was supposed to be last Wed. by Ernesto decided to kill that Appt. The new Smart Trans as it's been called is not so smart. I think it's mushy and unpredictable. Some times, it snaps hard into gear and sometimes it slushes into gear and the engine revs it's butt off with no real torque. The older guy will remember the Torquefilght A727 auto. Bulletproof and with the stall speed converter that was state of the art shifting. Don't settle for a major component rebuild. I will bet money it will most likely won't be right and will show its weakness after the warranty of course. Give them a chance to fix it but I would micro manage that Trans after the repair. Make sure it shifts as good as the day you got it and always check for fluid leaks.
yeah, i will make sure to keep an eye out on it. at first i thought i got water in the tranny, but i checked the fluid and it was fine, so its deffinatly nothing on my part....its not like im some idiot doing neutral drops or something equally retarded, because thats not the case
ok, i took my truck into the dodge dealership and they called me today and told me that my tranny has to be "overhauled" and the parts will be here on tuesday.
so at least a week without my baby

I would have them install factory fresh created trans. Sorry I just have a bad feeling about this. But do what ever make you comfortable with this uncomfortable situation. Are they providing a loaner?
graythang your tranny going into 2nd and staying there is known as "limp mode" and is a fail safe to get to the nearest machanic, this means something has failed sounds like you might have the start to a lemon case like you were hoping for.....good luck.

o that limp mode home crap..... very famous on the 41te trans... piece of s**t.... u maybe safe with the overhaul though... cause dealerships wont give u any other options... if it's cheap for the company, then thats the route they take... anyway..the rebuild isnt much of worry, since your clutch packs in the trans need to be replaced.... hopefully limp mode home hit quick enough not to damage your solenoid valve body... cause when 2nd ear or limp mode, the solenoid valve pack is shut off, at least from what i last checked... good luck with that man
shocker88240 is the one that is talking about the dealer rebuilding the trans. Mine is leaking fluid and is said that the front pump is leaking and will need to be replaced. Yes I did have to do the limp mode thing the second day I owned it. But with the engine problem and the other stuff it is being bought back. I'm just hoping the replacement 07 is not going to be a looser like this one. Maybe I should order it in a different color for luck reasons.

no, they provided no loaner because their "insurance wont cover it" i told them to pay for a rental car, and they agreed, but the rental car service has a waiting list of 12 people, so they wont get to me until my truck is back [:@]
i told them to go ahead and overhaul the tranny, but im gonna keep a real close eye on it and if it acts even a little suspisious, im taking it back and telling them to put a new tranny in or give me my money back and ill go buy some other vehicle elsewhere.
