Default Cold Air Intake

Hey anybody install a cold air intake just wondering of theres any sensors from after the throttle body to the air filter, ya know all that **** that disappears after you put on a cold air kit. I'm thinking of building my own, (low budget kid saving for school) should be pretty simple if there ain't any sensors.

Just an air temp sensor near the throttle body.held in with a rubber grommet and crank case vent tube plugged in near the filter. pretty simple. You can go to the K&N website and look at the install instructions, plus search this and other forums, alot of people making their own out of pvc pipe.

i bought my k/n fipk off of ebay was only 212.00. was a great investment. if you are going to build your own it will function properly but you wont have the heat shield. this is an important part of the cold air system. as afr as the holes you will need to drill for the iat sensor and the inlet tube for the breather element it should be an easy install

For sure on the heat should I better take a look at some of the intakes out there but just one sensor with grommet and a tube should be pretty basic.

I have the high output V8 and was considering a cold air intake too; but mine looks like it filters through the fenderwell down underneath the bumper...do the regular 4.7's do that too? or should i just leave this setup?

it doesn't filter down there, the filter is still in the huge box, that thing that goes into the fenderwall is just what draws the air into the stock airbox.
