Default How Many PPL get bad wheel hop when turning and accelerating

I get it bad, took the truck in some sand in 2wd and it was horrible, I hope it ain't like this in 4wd because I don't want to be feathering the throttle when I'm getting suck or something.

I get it too, especially when it's wet out. I figure it's due to the posi rear. I was thinking about taking it to the dealer, I believe there is an differential oil additive to stop that.

Yep...Mostly when acc. from a stop and turning. Must be when only one wheel is starting to break loose and the LSD is trying to lock or whatever. I can deal with it, knowing when I need to throttle back. Doubt it's fixable.

It's the nature of limited slip... when one wheel starts to slide, the torque (power) gets transferred to the other wheel. If you're going around a corner, that will cause hop because the wheels are trying to go the same speed due to power but can't because the outer wheel travels farther than the inside wheel. No fluid will fix this, it only may soften the transition from one slipping to the other engaged. You'll still get the hop, especially under power or with high torque (I can't floor it on dry pavement around a corner with the V8) When you're stuck, though, it shouldn't crop up too much - as long as you're going straight! Both tires should rotate like no ones buisness. To get out, though, you really need to slowly power out. 4WD should be no problem - the front tires will pull you out.

There is a fluid additive to lessen this problem referred to as chatter.

I have same thing on wet roads starting from a stop and some turns. (I also have the corporate rear with the 3.55) Nothing major, but I think it is just the nature of a truck. With the V8 Magnum if you don't feather the throttle you can spin them for quite a ways....[:-]
