Yea, the Dakota does... for now.
At some point, people are going to have to get off their "We've got the only V8 in its class" throne and realize, "We need a more powerful V8."

I did a comparison of HP stats of most Dodge motors. Guess what I found out? Liter for liter, the 4.7L HO and non-HO, are about the least powerful engines in the Dodge lineup. As a side note: I should probably do a torque comparison, just to satisfy you all who like to chime back, "Well, so what if Nissan and Toyota can make about the same HP outta their 4.0L V6's, we've got more torque." (And no, I'm not saying torque isn't important )

Anyway you look at it, the 4.7L is in need of more power. Or, just kill it and replace it with a differant motor. As was stated here, another user stated the fact that the HEMI with MDS not only makes more power than the 4.7L, but also gets better mileage (stated on the grounds that in order to compete price-wise, Chrysler needs to drop its overhead cost, thus, getting rid of useless product lines)
Now, you all can go back to telling yourself the Dakota is invincable since "its got the only V8 in its class" but saying will only make you look like an idiot when smaller motors are making more power .
(Just in case you were wondering, I love the Dakotas, I would never buy another mid-size pickup, but, at the same time, I'm not brainwashed)

 

I seen on the news where they interviewed some dealers selling Detroit makes,they were griping about all the trucks and suvs setting unsold on their lots plus general lack of sales of their cars to,claiming the Big 3 over invested in trucks and suv and now they don't have what the public wants so the Asian makes are getting the sales,I can believe it I've seen more new models and redesigns of trucks and SUVs come out of Detroit then new cars and this hasn't help sales,it sounds like the early 70s all over again,I like my Dakota but much as us Dodge fans want it I don't think sticking a HEMI in it going solve DC's problems,I mean you have a good point about MPG and power but I think we'll be seeing less about HP numbers and more about MPG and more focus on their car lines,the only good thing the 4.7 been out for awhile maybe we'll see some trick parts come out like a stroker kit or aftermarket heads and I think the diesel option might be the way to go still, in the half ton Rams and Dakotas.that would put Dodge a step ahead of GM and Ford,the Dodge Cummins was way ahead of anything GM or Ford had to offer for a long time.I don't think the diesel will save DC but if they do it right it may give them a edge on other trucks.

 

I just got the Mopar major parts catalog and in the entire book there is not one mention of the 4.7 ANYWHARE! This engine is becoming the "redheaded stepchild" It seems the 4.7 is in limbo of sorts with DC and the third party design markets.
