Tint Question
for those of you that have tinted your dakotas with the rear pass and rear windows that came "smoked" from the factory, what did you put on it? i had 5% on my ram all around but its too dark for at night. im thinkin i want the effect of 15%. so that means what % do you think i need to put on the rear windows to accomplish this, obviousely i would just put 15% on the front, but what should be on back? 25% or 35%? any help/info/advice is welcome

If you want 5% in the back, and your rear window is like mine and factory tinted, you would need 20%. I am going to put 20% all the way around and the rears should be 5%. (I just put a small piece of tint on the window to see what it looked like. 15% was really dark... like maybe 1.5 or worse. 20% was just right. the same or real close to the 5% on teh clear front window...) hope it helps.

I'm getting tint put on mine front windows today. The guy I was talking to said that the factory tint is somewhere between 35% and 20%. The 20% is the closest you can get to matching the rears but it will be slightly darker if you look hard enough. If the light is still good when I pick it up, I'll post some pics here for you to compare.

I got my 99 front side windows tinted 20% to match the back. and they match pretty good.
my 88 is tinted 5% side windows and 5% + 20% factory. and its too dark. I have to open up the windows at night so I can see anything. it looks good during the day though.

yeah, I wish I head a light meter (like photographers and cops use) so I could be sure what the rears would read. the only reason I havent tinted mine yet. I was a little scared after playing around with the scraps I had. I dont want it to be too dark in the rear... I will probably run 20% all around, that way the rear will be dark, but not as bad at night.

I just got my truck back from getting the fronts tinted. I left the rear windows the facotry tint.
Before with factory tinted rear windows.
After with fronts at 20%. Much closer look than the other option of 35%.
