They said they looked it up in chrysler and that's what it came back as. ???we will see, I have my fingers crossed

R/T,

Hopefully this fix will solve your issue.

Is this noise just a noise, or is it damaging to the transmission? In other words, what's the urgency, if any, on "fixing" it with this TSB?

JRRF,

I do not have the answer to the urgency question as each case would probably vary but if you are having this condition, and this TSB applies and can solve the problem, I would recommend you schedule a dealer visit as soon as is convenient for you. Please remember that a TSB will be covered while the vehicle is under warranty but after that it is not, so the sooner the better.

Looks like the TSB covers it but I was wondering if folks with the problem noticed if it matters if the Durango is warmed up or cold? Mine makes a minor thud when not fully warmed up but I just attribute this to it being a 5,500lb pig with a drive train that can handle 390lb/ft of torque while pulling itself and another 7,200 lbs. My mom's old Ram Charger did this too.

I did read in the manual where it states when parking you should set the parking break before placing the Durango in park. Even though I park on relatively flat ground - this eliminates the noise for me in the mornings.

The noise my R/T was making, certainly sounded like it was doing damage. It sounded as if I didn't apply the brake before putting it into park. You could hear the noise even from the ouside of the vehicle. My husband would hear me put it into park from 10' away. Since I had it fixed, it sounds and feels like it should when you change gears. I hope this helps. Thanks Dodge for figuring it out.

Safford,

I have heard nothing about if warm or cold makes a difference but hopefully it cures the problem either way.

Hey guys

I just had the TSB work done on my 11 citadel and that harsh clunk shifting around from park to drive, etc, is gone! I had 20000 miles on the car before I got this done. For those of you that have the clunk sound problem, get this fixed while your still under warranty not sure if Chrysler will cover after 36k miles
