Transmission question
If the noise I think you are asking about, I just fix one on a 2008 aspen. If you have a 4x2 the tail housing need to be removed and remove the snap ring that holds the park paw gear, remove the gear and install the rubber o-ring and then steak the inside of the gear. Put the gear back on the output shaft and force the gear all the way to the o-ring and reinstall the snap ring. It may have to be force to lock back into the groove on the ouput shaft. Reinstall the tail housing and fill will ATF+4. Same thing with a AWD, the only diff is the transfer case.
Nope. There are little to no co-workings with MB now.

I too have a brand new Citadel V8 AWD with 300 miles and am having the same issues with the clang/popping noise when shifting between Drive, Neutral and Park. I dropped it back off to the dealer yesterday and they took a quick look. Was told that they had to remove the transfer case to gain an understanding of what was causing the issue....
just to clarify:
while at my buddies dealership the other day I decided to price a 2012 RT and Citadel. Chrysler is offering a 6 speed transmission in its 2012 Hemi powered Durango's.
They are also having issues getting the offered paint schemes (due to Japan disaster). So if you go to order a new Durango, you may be limited in which color you can get currently.
I don't think the 8 speed will be offered in the SUV's due to the size of the gears in an 8 speed transmission. From what I have read, the taller gears are better suited for larger engines in trucks.
I will be ordering my 2012 very soon!

Govt CAFE standards will dictate the transmission so indeed, you will see it in 2013.
Remember, I live 50 miles from the Chrysler Transmission Plant. That's all I can say about that.
Finally, you should PRAY that we get the transmission in 2013. That buys the Durango more time before they have to adopt the Run/Stop standards. Run/Stop will lead to 100,000 max lifespan vehicles, more vehicle sales and/or service, and all kinds of bad stuff. All to leave a barrel of oil in the ground.

I had/have the same problem with clunking out of drive. I have a 2011 durango r/t 7,000 miles and just brought it to be fixed. They replaced the Transmission valve body plate(?). I am not sure if this is fixed or not, just picked it up. It also rocks when I start it after it clunks into park. They said they looked it up in chrysler and that's what it came back as. ???we will see, I have my fingers crossed
