I'm definitely thinking about the lockpick system and camera. Has anyone added the camera to a 3rd generation Durango? If so, what route was taken to fish the camera leads to the dash?

In regards to safety aspects nothing will replace the Mk0 eyeball and mirrors, mainly the eyeball and having the situational awareness of what's going on. Relying to heavily on technology is a recipe for disaster.

Thanks AMG Hauler! Looking forward to hearing how the install went.

ccthomp, I agree about the situational awareness. My main need is for hooking up the boat trailer and those tight parking spots. I really don't want to scratch up my pretty red bumper

???? I don't see what the difference is between the MK0 eyeball using a mirror or that same eyeball using a screen/camera ??

Just more tools to help that eyeball see something. And to see more areas. Without that camera, no mirror or eyeball can see right behind a car.

It's not like one closes their eyes and then looks at the backup camera?

I'm a firm believer that backup cameras should just be standard. And the government is already thinking of going this route.

The backup camera on the D just plain SUCKS......it has a very crappy image and when light hits it - its worse. They should have put a much better camera on there. My moms 2012 Camaros backup camera looks a whole lot better. But at least there is something there and you can tell what it is.

It is just a camera. One could theoretically replace with another? Best case, there's an rca in the tailgate somewhere. Worst case, some splicing? Just need to make the new camera look good?

For the record, I think the camera is fine and does it's job. Without a doubt, better than nothing at all!

The only thing I wish it would do that very few other cars do, is to have the lines swivel with the steering wheel angle. The camera lines are that much more helpful when they swing over as I turn the wheel.

Yes it is much better then having nothing at all but it still has crappy quality. Idk about the lines moving, I bet that would be good if you need to parallel park but we don't have to here in FL.

The swivelling lines are just good all around. Pulling out of a parking space, backing into a parking space, the lines just help you know if you've got room and can keep going or need to do an extra steering point maneuver to get better positioned.

I hope I never need to parallel park the D.

I had a parallel park my 09 Ram (lifted w/ 35's) a couple times in Mount Dora where my wires parents live and that thing had pretty bad turning radius so i don't think the D would be too bad since this thing turns pretty damn well.
