There are both single-speed and two-speed transfer cases for the AWD. The two-speed has the selector for LOW and the single speed does not.

My understanding is the V6 AWD has the single speed with no selector and the HEMI with AWD has the selector.

Sounds about right about the V6 AWD=no selector / V8 = selector.

I took delivery from factory a month or so ago on a 2012 Citadel AWD w/ V8 & trailer tow package. Mine has the hi/low selector switch on the center console.

Point taken. Safety is always first. My 2012 is all time awd, not 4wd. There is no high/low switch. Only an on off for traction control

Aren't there some special procedures you have to follow to go into Low Range, or Low Range Neutral? Can anyone provide that here?

to get into low range you usually pull over, stop the car, put the trans in nuetral, shift into 4lo (or neutral) and then put the trans back in gear and keep on going.(this is the procedure in my dads truck as well as mine and every 4x4 we have ever owned)

What's the benefit of the separate neutral setting?

Neutral generally allows everything to unbind/reset and for a free wheeling setting for getting towed out of a predicament.

OrlandoDurango - I can't address the other items but I can assure you that "plastic chrome" doesn't exist. All chrome is real metal, although companies like Ford and Honda have just started offering chrome-like paint which has 0 chrome in the process. The chrome-clad wheels on the Durango are fairly expensive and were designed that way because they are more durable. There are plenty of people who like them so I recommend to you what I tell others - I would be willing to bet the dealer will be happy to swap them for less expensive wheels - he will make a profit on the next vehicle he sells with them.

I wonder if the reason why the v6 comes with the single speed transfer case and the hemi has the 2 speed is due to the different transmissions they each have or possibly the different power bands in the rpm of the 2 engines? Just brainstorming reasons why they'd each have a different transfer case.

The v6 is not an intended tow vehicle. That's why.
