OK Guys just need a little info !
I know it been covered but I really can't find what I need to know. I am gutting my Volant CAI in 2 days and wanted to know about the sensor . Is it a straight pull out or do I need to do something on the electrical connection first before I pull it off. And if someone can just tell me about the removal of the OEM air box. I ask this because I hear there is weak instructions with the new one and I want to get everything off this weekend before it gets here. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Mike
Thanks Mike
Just unplug the sensor, turn it and pull out... I believe there may even be an arrow on it. Factory airbox removal is straight fwd simply loosen all connections and pull up on the airbox once its loose. You have to transfer over a few large rubber grommets that hold the airbox in place... Good luck!

When you have the piece with the sensor in it, off, you will see a lock tab. Pry carefully up on it and turn the sensor 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull out. It just pushes in to the new air tube. (Rubber Grommet)
The bottom of the factory air box (under air filter) is held on by rubber grommets on pins. Just pull up on the box and remove. It takes some effort but pull it out, you cant hurt anything.
You will see that once you have everthing out, it isnt that difficult. It will only take about 1/2 an hour to do the complete install.
I got this info from other guys on this forum when I was doing mine.
I agree that the supplied instructions are very unclear about removal of factory parts.
You can also check out the thread in here titled "Volant Help"
Hope this helps out.
Thanks Guys. That is what I was worried about . That red type clip on the sensor I did not know what to do with it before I pulled off the electrical connection. But you are saying that red slide is after you take the electrical connection off. Is that correct.
Everything was pretty straight forward except that the supplied bolt for the L bracket was too long for a tight fit and looks like that I had to installed the L bracket the other way around compare to the drawing

Short victory on the volant......
Wife took the Durango this morning to run some errands. Received a call around 1pm that the D doesn't want to start....crank but doesn't fire.
Went to meet her, no luck...put back everything stock on the parking lot... and called the towing.
D is at the dealer waiting Monday morning for diagnosis...
Coincidence, maybe. In the meantime she is **** because I broke the car...

Wow that is a bummer. Do you think it was the Volant or a coincident. I am wondering if you disconnected the neg. battery terminal under the seat before you started the install. The computer might just need a reboot.
