3.6 Pentastar misfiring
Taking my Durango in on Tuesday for the check engine light and cylinder #2 misfire problem. Should there be any noticeable performance change or change in fuel economy? I haven't noticed either one since the light came on about a week and a half ago. Drives the same as it has since I bought it.
You won't notice a performance issue, until you get the cylinder replaced. They finally replaced mine under warranty, and the DD drives so much better, and have not had a single problem, or light since getting it back. Keep on them, and they will replace it. They told me that they had to go through the steps that Dodge made them do before the replacement.

My used 3.6 2012 Crew is a former rental I got with only 23K miles on it after 15 months of service. No engine problems at all so far but will still be shopping for an extended warranty now that I know of the potential problems. Luckily I have two Dodge dealers in my area, one did very good work on my '06 Pacifica but the other is on my personal double-secret probation.
I forgot to add that the shop time to fix this problem varies from 9.8 to 14.5 hours depending on which head is being replaced and whether or not you have AWD. In my neighborhood that would be nearly $1100-$1600 just for labor. Ouch.
The local Dodge tech said he has seen it most often on 2012s with 20K-30K miles, and that it is a faulty part from a single supplier.

962,
Sorry to hear about your concerns with the vehicle. Please keep us posted on the visit with your dealer. If you have any questions or would like additional assistance reviewing the concern, please PM your VIN# and the name of your servicing dealer. I'd be happy to look into this for you.

Dealer got the part in quicker than expected. Dropping it off next Wednesday. They said it would take about 2 days to replace the head. Setting me up with a loaner ride. Here's hoping this isn't the start of nickel and dime stuff going wrong......

Wow this is ridiculous! Starting to regret my 2014 Durango purchase and haven't owned it for 1 week yet. Since it uses the same Pentastar engine I presume I will be seeing this in my vehicle's future. This is very bad news, what is Pentastar/Chrysler doing about this to prevent this recurring problem?
