I'm told by the dealer that is normal.

On a fully started (not remote started) vehicle, the Auto temp control system does not activate the blower when the engine/coolant temp is cold (that would be foolish). As the temperature climbs, the blower begins to increase in speed.

I think the reason people think the remote start isn't working correctly is because they are not allowing the engine to reach an operating temperature at which the ATC would increase the speed of the blower.

At 20 degrees, using remote start and allowing the vehicle to idle, it would take nearly the full remote start cycle for the engine to warm enough to activate the blower. It is normal for the blower to automatically kick to full when the door is opened (but ignition is still in remote start) and it immediately kicks back down if you turn the ignition to RUN and the vehicle is not warmed enough yet.

Can anyone try testing out their 'not working' remote start while seated inside the vehicle?
well you have just got it all figured out dont you...if yours does not have the problem how do you think you can come on here with your "not working" quotes and expect to understand our frustration

I dont "think" mine isnt working... I KNOW it isnt working

Jeez aren't we harsh. Since I have a functional remote start comfort system and KNOW how the system is supposed to function, I was just offering possibilities for folks to try on systems that don't work or that they think might not be working.

That really is the whole point of this forum is it not? Flaming me for trying to help while not offering up any suggestions of your own...

I finally got a real life test of the remote start the other day while on a ski trip. Remote started it and when I got in the defroster had done its job, the seats and the steering wheel were heated. What a joy!

The new flash has solved my problems. The remote start is now working as it should. It was 87 degrees out the other day and I remote started it and when i got in the ac was blowing cold air instead of warm air. The new flash allows the compressor to kick on when remote starting like it should. I can not test the heat since I live in FL. I am very happy they finally came out with a fix...however there is no reason it should have taken this long to rewrite some code and get the flash out.

Unfortunately, I know all to well what it takes to get programming validated and out to customers. When they write in one feature, they need to test every function and every situation before they hand it off to the dealers. Otherwise for example you might have had your compressor on when in remote start but the engine would not know this was happening and would stall because of the extra load at idle. I am glad they were able to get something out there.

Got mine programmed today, along with ANOTHER TIPM replacement. Will see how this works in May/June!

These features will stay on through the duration of the remote start or until the ignition switch is turned to the ON/RUN position.

The Remote Start Comfort System can be activated and deactivated through the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). In order to do so make sure the vehicle is in PARK and press and release the UP and Down button until Setup displays in the EVIC. Use the Up or Down button and choose "Remote Start Comfort Sys." When this feature is selected and the remote start is activated, the heated steering wheel and driver seat features will automatically turn on. To make the selection, press and release the SELECT button until a check-mark appears next to the feature showing that the system has been activated. Or you can remove the check-mark if you'd like to deactivate it at any time. You can find this information on page 315-316 of the Owner's Manual, Second Edition.

I hope this helps.
I got mine re flashed from the dealer last week and finally got to test the Heater in the cold weather. (I live in the Bay Area and there are not many days i can test the heater out :-) ). Anyway it was 36'F outside and i turned on the remote start. Waited about 3-4 minutes and went up to the D. Nothing, no seat heater on, no steering warmer on, no rear defroster on. The only thing that was on was the setting that had been left in the car the previous night. (70'F fan at 1 speed).
Drove to work a little frustrated and then parked it just to try the remote start again. Viola, it worked now !! The seat heater, steering warmer, defroster everything came on like it is supposed to.

The only thing I can think of is that i did not give it enough time for the engine to warm before all these features come on?

acharyagautam,

The defrost, heated seats and heated steering wheel do not run off the heat from the engine but are electronic. However, it may take longer to heat up depending on the temperature in the vehicle.

If your concerns continue you may want to review with your local Dodge dealer or if you are seeking additional assistance, seeing as you are from the United States, you can contact my US counterpart, Chris, DodgeCares, or the US Customer Care Department at 1-800-992-1997.

Thanks Katie,
I tried the same thing again today and the same results. The first start nothing comes on, no seat heater, no steering heater nothing (outside temp=36'F). But then after driving the vehicle it for about 15 minutes, tried it again and only the seat heater, steering warmer and rear defroster comes on with no heating.
I will contact the dealer today and see what they have to say.

Thanks
Gautam
