Just had my D's remote start flashed today. Didn't have time to test it until now. Not happy with the results. Heat/AC still doesn't work after you remote start it until you open the door. Now what?

What was the outside temperature? If it was between 40 and 70, then it won't preheat/precool.

Could it be that the dealer didn't apply the correct update? As its hard to believe that they spent all this time working on an update and then it doesn't work in the end.

I noticed that in my 2013 Crew, the AC will maintain the setttings prior ro shutting off the D, however if I leave it over night or for an extended period of time, maybe even a few hours or so, the AC will not be on upon remote start. Haven't tried it with the heater though!

When I tested both the heater and ac by remote start it was about 35 degrees. Neither worked.

I took it back to the dealer this morning and they confirmed the update was flashed correctly. They also re-flashed it with no success on the remote start issue. They verified that it was not working correctly. They went out to their lot and tested on another identical D and that one failed as well. They told me they were waiting for an answer back from Chrysler. Made appointment for next monday to dig deeper.

I do have a question for all 2011-2013 D owners with the remote start feature...

Does anyone have a working remote start that functions properly? (as as common sense tells how it should work) I.E. when you remote start it does the heat/ac/heated seats/defrost ect. turn on immediately without having to open your doors regardless the external temperature?

My 2011 Citadel worked flawlessly from Day 1 (March 12, 2011).

It finally dropped into the mid 30's this past weekend and I able to test the remote start again. Happily the driver heated seat turned on both times, and the car was warm. I guess the dealer flash did work. yay!

That's great to hear. One bit of advice if you don't want to climb into a vehicle that you expect to be warm and freeze your 'tookus': If the temperature is hovering around the temp. activation mark and your front-end is facing the sun, the sensor will warm above the outside air temp and will not activate when you remote start.

Try and park facing away from the path of the sun and the sensor will remain at the ambient air temp. and will function correctly.

It's been in the 20's here the last few nights. I have a 2012 Crew leather. My heated driver seat comes on too when I remote start it. Also my rear defrost comes on for some reason.(no frost) Those are the only 2 options that are being engaged. No hot air blowing etc...

Is the hot air supposed to blow out of the vents when remote started? Mine will only come on after I open the door. Are we able to enable the passenger heated seat too when it's remote started?

Chrysler/Dodge tells me my D Crew will not blow hot/cold air when remote started because "that's the way it's designed"

I'm confused by this because other D owners have said their remote start works flawlessly (engages heat/ac immediately after it's remote started) while others say it doesn't engage any heat/av or it only engages the driver heated seats.

I'm so frustrated with the supposed "design" of the D's remote start system. It's unlike any other 'normal' remote start on any other vehicle. IMO it's pointless if it won't engage the heat/ac immediately.

Don't take this as me crying but rather trying to get to the bottom of why my remote start doesn't function as other remote starts do.

I haven't noticed warm air blowing from the vents, but it does appear to blow on low from the defroster and floor. The vents do not turn on until I open the door.
