Default R/T roof rack

Any of you guys put an aftermarket roof rack system on your R/T? I have seen the posts that say you can't put the factory roof rails on an R/T. I also see there are some aftermarket systems that will fit (Thule, etc.) but I haven't seen anyone comment on them. If anyone has one, I'd appreciate your feedback on them (fit, capacity, etc.).

The other option I'm considering is a hitch-mounted cargo basket.

Haven't seen an R/T with a roof rack but there are a number of guys with the hitch mounted boxes, if you do a search I believe there's a thread about them...good luck!

I have a thule roof rack. It is the one out of the accessories catalog. I have a thule roof box I purchased from a Craigslist ad for 250.00. Like new. I also run a hitch mounted basket. Not an enclosed box, just a cargo carrier basket. All work extremely well. My son plays hockey on a competitive tournament team and his gear reeks! The basket keeps that smell out of the D! The roof box is great for long stuff like his sticks. We can load up a lot of gear up there as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any pics of your Thule roof rack on the D? I haven't found any good photos online. It seems the placement on the roof will be far forward as compared to the factory rack. Has the placement caused any difficulties, with sunroof etc.?

I don't have any pictures but I will try to get some next week (I'll have to learn how to post them....) I am out of town right now and won't be home until Tuesday. It does mount forward. There is no interference with the sunroof or anything else. The only negatives I have are 1) slight wind noise from the box, I close the sun roof shade and I can no longer hear the wind noise. 2) Where the roof rack meets the roof it sits on rubber "feet". There has been a very slight but noticeable marring of the paint at the contact points. Probably would buff out but I'm not real concerned.

Will love to see the roof rack pics when you have time. In looking at the options for hitch-mounted cargo boxes, it seems that heat from the dual exhausts could be a problem - anyone experience that?
