adding oem entertainment system
I was going to post my latest mod, two alpine amps, 4 new door speakers and new 8" kicker sub but instead I took everything out yeasterday. It sounded really good for a couple of months. It looks like I am jumping into a 2014 Hemi D soon. I will post photos and a review of the new radio. I am also curious to see if dodge change the sub in the 2014.
By the way guys, I posted the 2012 alpine system wiring code on another page... I also made a diagram using MS Paint.

In regards to the sub Is that 100%? Do you have a 14 or is that nice rt yours. I like the RT but they dont have the xtras like the citadel. I just hope that the radio system sounds better than the 2012. Not that is horrible but it could be improve. I wont find out for a while. They couldnt find one the way I want it so they had to order it. I have to wait up to 6 weeks to get it. Now I have to pay 30 dollars again to dodge to get the wiring diagram for the 2014 radio unless its the same. I'll find out as soon as I get it.
I installed one in my 06 Ram. I was very fortunate to find the head unit on eBay for $35 (I don't think the guy knew what he had). Most expensive part for me was the mounting bracket that mounts to the roof. It was almost $200 from a dealer. The wiring was not hard. If I remember correctly, the wires I needed were in the A pillar. I built a harness to get from the A pillar to the unit. Hardest part was finding a connector that would plug into the unit. It appears to be different than all the other connectors on the truck.

That could be overkill but I can't blame you for thinking about it. I also did......LOL. I would like to find small one to put into the second row headrest so it won't interfere when you need to drop the seats. The problem is that the second row headrest are smaller than normal. I couldn't find a screen that small anywhere. I will look again because I want to do that to my new 2014Citadel , that is after I get it as it is still in production. You hear and seeall these shows about car manufacture making so many cars a day but who would have thought that it takes weeks to make a special order one. Anyhow, you seem to do just about as much research as I do. If you know of a company that have really small display let me know. Like I said, not the one that goes behind but just the displays that go into the actual headrest. I ordered my new 2014with factory DVD display so I want to make it as clean as possible. I have to measure them again and start searching.

The fact that you made the harness is impressive. I am also good at making things like that but I had to have the diagram or schematic of the system. I was able to finally find the one for the 2012 Durango but that was after I already bought the DVD. I actually purchased the oem display for close to $500 from mopar but it came without the outer cover and the mopar store couldn't find the correct hardness so I sent it back and got a refund. The downside I had to pay $30.00 dollar to access the wiring system on the dodge site for 3 days only. I copy as much as I could from that site in regards to the wiring system on the 2012 Durango. I am afraid that I will have to pay again to access the 2014 diagram. I have two amps , four door speakers and a new 8" sub that I remove from my 2012 before the trade and I want to put those in the 2014. That is if the system sound is the same as of the 2012. At the very least the four door speakers are a must. I know the radio is totally different so the harness could be a complete redesign. I will compare the wiring when I get it.I believe somebody here said that everything is the same on the 14's except the radio . I asked him how he knew that but I am still waiting for his reply on that.
