Default Brake controller not working

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Crew V8 with the factory tow package. I figured it would be easy enough to install a P3 controller by using the designated wiring harness. However, the brake controller is not recognizing the trailer. Is there something else I need to do, like add a fuse? I figured it was a plug and play but doesn't appear to be.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hmm it should be that simple, double check your connections and the fuse. I'm sure dodgecares will chime in on this shortly!

You do have to install a fuse for that I believe.

I cannot really speak about an aftermarket controller. The link below provides the instructions for the Mopar unit to be installed and also has a troubleshooting section that may be of some help. Click the link and then click installation guide.

I have a 2013 Crew with V6 and tow package. I installed a Brake Controller and used the Dodge wiring harness included with the Dorango. It works and recognizes the trailer. Perhaps your trailer doesn't have the correct wiring. My travel trailer has electric brakes. I did not add a fuse.

I installed the factory tow package and harness. Was able to connect my brake controller with no problem and did not have to add or install a fuse.

I had a problem w/mine at first - pulled it back out and replaced all the wire connectors and then it worked.
