Default Mileage on 2013 Hemi Durango

Hi All,

I have a 2013 Citadel Hemi and am getting 10MPG average over the 150 miles I've had it. It is used with 16K kms. Almost all of my driving is short run city so I expect it to be high but not this high. Can anyone weigh in?

Also, I don't think I run it that hard. I have a 300C Hemi as well and get around 15MPG.

Thanks.

I am about the same with short run city. Don't use the EVIC to calculate your MPG's use how many gallons you used to your actual mileage you used. Engine has to break in and MPG's will increase as time goes on, change to synthetic oil first oil change, checks your tire pressure too. I have bought new cars with 20 psi in the tires. BTW 87 octane is acceptable for the HEMI but Dodge recommends 89 octane.

They are terrible around town
The CAI and synthetic oil has increase my city mileage a bit.

The OP's Durango has almost 10,000 miles on it - I think it is broken in enough.

There is no comparison with the 300C. The Durango weighs a LOT more, and accelerating all that extra mass after each stoplight or slowdown takes energy = more fuel used.

OP, actually your mpg is low, not high. 30 mpg is high, sometimes I see it on the EVIC on a level road at 50 mph....

Thanks all. I'm going to the cottage this weekend so we'll see how much better it gets.

GotRPM - I'm metric so I'm used to X litres per 100 kilometers Agreed that the value of 10 MPG is low in that I'm only getting 10 miles per, not more. Also, I was using the 300C as a reference for driving style, not to compare actuals with the Durango. I do notice that it takes a lot of pedal to get started. I'll see how highway goes.

I've gotten 20mpg on the highway and generally get around 17mpg driving around my fairly rural area. I get around 12mpg towing a 5,000lb trailer. 15k miles on the odometer.

I've done the math to check the EVIC and it comes out within tenths of mpg.

Do the factory pedal calibration it helps
Sit in the D and do not touch the brake pedal. Now push the start button twice until it gets to run(again dont actually start or touch brake)
Now slowly push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and slowly let it come all the way back up. Now hit the start button again to turn everything off. Start your D normally and see if the pedal is a little more responsive now.
The Hypetech everyone talks about on here uses a pedal boost control to keep this fresh all the time. The Diablo programs it into the PCM as well.
Remember these are drive by wire so all the Throttle body sees is a signal from the pcm.
Hope it helps for you. It worked a little on my D when I first got it and it worked Great on my wifes Avenger R/T as well.

I have averaged 14-15 mpg all city driving with my 2013. Its driven daily about 15 miles a day mostly short trips, so I cant complain.

With a cai exhaust and hypertech I'm avg 15-16 in the city. And on a recent roadtrip got 22-23 mpg. I'm getting 1-2 city & 2-3 highway better from stock.
