Sales guys - a little off topic
So you know wifey got a new Sequoia Platinum a few weeks ago and loves it. Well, as with any sale a few weeks later you get the survey and of course if you dont give them a "10" all the way in the survey, they automatically get a zero, even if you give them a 9/10 rating for one question. Well here is the thing, I made the guy work, made his manager grovel, especailly trying to lie to me about numbers etc, dumb a$$, but either way sales guy did a great job overall.
Then yesteday wife plays me a message he left on cell, letting us know that survey will be in email in a few days and how important it is for us to give him a 10 acorss the board as it affects his bonus money(verbatim). It is just me or do you find this pretty darn harsh, I get the part you guys really dont make sh%t, its the dealers that make the money, but grovelling on a voicemail??? Im up in the air right now and mainly becuase of the voicemail to be honest and I think Im going to call the sales manager too and say WTH?
Whats your thoughts. I work in the mortgage industry and 100% customer based/focused. You treat people with the utomst respect 24/7 and in the ideal world you will be treated the same way. I thought the guy did a great job but this voicemail has me really annoyed. I didnt really care for the finance guy too much, as had to tell him his numbers too, so if anything the finance guy irked me more than the sales guy. So on the fence. Ok back to my coffee, sorry if this is boring, still waking up here.
Ps...on a side note, had two different drivers tell me how sweet my truck was at two different lights yesterday, and one was a female(but with a male passenger, but still!!)

I agree with you. This stuff is really annoying. What's wrong is the fact that only 10 is important. That's just not the way the world works, and they need to get with reality. You can't please all the people all the time, and they need to understand that. Give him what you really think he deserves (including the gross voicemail) and feel comfortable about being truthful. At a minimum maybe that will cut down on these types of voicemails. Because anyone who has to ASK for a 10 already doesn't deserve it.
We are a society of "EVERYONE GETS FIRST PLACE" now!
Screw em Finny...put what you feel on the survey. No benefit to you either way, you will still have to make payments etc etc

give an honest feedback. If you can include the part where he calls and leaves a voicemail asking for a 10. I am sure they are pressured but if they treated you like a 10 they would get it. Why give them something they dont deserve?

I have to vote to give the guy a break. His job is crap. Slightly less than crap. So what if he makes a few bucks because you gave him 10's? No skin off your back and you did him a solid, right?
I've been in sales all my adult life (not in car sales although I've always thought that would be fun for a week or two). I'm in B2B sales involving capital expenditures with a crazy long sales cycle so nothing I can compare to what this guy probably has to go through to put food on the table and gas in the tank.
Would I condone my sales team doing that, probably not, but, that said, I'd never put them in such an awkward position. And actually, the manufacturer my company represents does survey all of our clients but there's no financial incentive or disincentive for a positive or negative response (other than if someone were to consistently get bad responses their job would ultimately be in jeopardy).
Long answer short, what do you care, give him 10's.

I bought my truck despite the dealer, not because of them. I gave Dodge corporate an earful about them when they surveyed me, not because I want to be harsh on the dealer but because I want to help Dodge and Chrysler survive. Our other vehicle is a Honda, and I had a Nissan before the Dodge. Nissan and Honda's dealers in our area makes both Dodge facilities look prehistoric, and the sales tactics were so transparently sleazy. I was expecting to receive free turn signal fluid changes for life.
