Anyone else notice that the bluetooth phone battery icon on the screen is extremely inaccurate? I'm using an iPhone 5 and when my battery is half charged, the battery shows red/empty or low yellow on the Nav screen. Seems to have been happening since that update they sent out in the mail earlier this year.
I think the Uconnect's thresholds for yellow and red are just higher than what most cellphone manufacturers use as thresholds. I know on my Galaxy S3 the battery indicator won't go yellow until ~20% battery left and red at <10% battery left. It seems that the UConnect uses 50% and 20% for those thresholds, respectively. Nothing to worry about. I run around with a 12V car charger for my phone anyways, so if I notice that the UConnect is showing the battery as a little low, I just plug the phone in and let it charge.
Uconnect will display the level that is sent to it by the phone.
Uconnect will ask periodically what the battery & signal strength is, the phone will respond back with a level of 1 -5 with 5 being the highest. Based upon what the phone sends is what is displayed.
So, I upgraded to the iPhone 5S last week and now the battery gauge works fine. So maybe it was either my phone, or that iOS 7 reports battery life more accurately!
