Default 14' Durango gets beat out by a Subaru! MT

MotorTrend SUV of the year! Can you believe it? Our D got whooped by a SUV that can't tow over 1500lbs or hold more than 5 people, looks like a rebadged CRV, has the cheapest looking interior of any modern SUV and has a rubber band transmission (CVT). congrats to the Subaru Forester. MotorTrend YOU ARE ON CRACK!

I guess if you care what motortrend thinks this would upset you. lol

At the end of the day each SUV serves its purpose and if what you own serves your purpose then consider it the SUV of the next few years

Thought it was funny since MT voted the Durango second place in 2013 saying if it only had a better transmission it would have won. They also said how quiet and refined it was and what high end materials and fit and finish last year. But this year it lost due to " lack of refinement" that's with a new display, nav, rear blue ray, 8 speed and body refresh. Hahaha. Crack I Say...

I'm most curious why they say the D has excessive road noise and general lack of refinement while they praise both on the Grand Cherokee. Does the GC really have additional sound deadening and is the interior really that much more refined? I thought the only differences were purely cosmetic.

The R/T is not that fast. I got smoked by a base model Malibu from a stop light the other night!

Just as we thought the new 8 speed did help out dropping 0-60 time by 7 tenths, (6.6 seconds) vs (7.3) however by the end of the 1/4 mile (15.0 seconds) vs (15.5@ 89.9) the new girl is only 5 tenths and 3 mph faster. Also contrary to what Scott had predicted the v6 version is still in the 8 second range to 60mph. Moral of the story is that are extremely cool Durangos are snails no matter what transmission we run, even if Ron Burgundy is selling them. Wonder if those snazzy tail lights added some weight....blah ha ha
