It's only there to keep water out not hold the booster together.
Maybe there more to it than just possible corrosion around the crimp joints (like "cheap" steel and inadequate paint job).

The truth is the crimp joint is not faulty but it is not protected from elements. So the Answer seal it in Foam
Even the ones getting replaced get the foam

Well, For peace of mind I will get the test done to see if in fact the brake booster is OK. Brakes are nothing to take a chance on. Arctic Cat ZRT 1004 cc .

I would guess that if there was a deficiency in materials or workmanship the manufacturer would have issued a "replacement" order for all vehicles not an inspect and replace if necessary. If I can keep mine dry and inspect it regularly I'll take my chances here in bone dry southern Califonia. For you guys out in antartica aka the frozen states, get yours in and fixed.

Tried setting up an appointment the other day and the dealer said they haven't gotten the parts yet. They figure the parts will arrive in the next month, and that Chrysler will send a card when the parts are at the dealers. They did say to bring it in if I have any brake issues in the mean time.

I got the same as bbtkd.

Would it be a liability if they don't do the recall if it's not needed now, then all the sudden this fails in the future?

Depends on how much lawyer you can afford. Also helps to live in California - you can successfully sue for anything there, such as tripping while burglarizing a house.

Default Has the Recall been Recalled?

Got my recall notice and called Roseville, CA Dodge service. A really clueless sounding service advisor (young, female) said that the recall has been cancelled! Or something to that affect. I demanded more info and she transferred me to the parts dept. The guy who answered sounded more knowledgeable and explained that they don't have the parts anymore due Chrysler reevaluating the recall/fix and putting the recall on hold 'til they redesign how they repair the problem.

I then called 2 other nearby dealerships to see what they say. All they said is that they haven't received any shields yet and are still waiting. Nothing about a possible change in the design or procedure.

Not a good idea, bud. If something would happen there is NO WAY Dodge would step in to "make you whole," as the lawyers say. And especially so since you've outlined how you will fix the problem on your own and also posted on a public forum a declaration of intent to ignore the company's effort to fix the problem.
That's a slam dunk for Dodge right there.
