Default Durango 3.6L Roll Call

So, who here has a 6 cylinder Durango? How do you like it? I would have loved to have a Hemi in mine but I honestly couldn't find one for sale in my price range. Even the 3.6's are pretty limited around here! I guess everyone likes them and hangs on to them for a while! With that said, I still find the 3.6 pretty powerful for this vehicle. I have no trouble merging or pulling out into traffic and it purrs like a kitten at high speeds! I had one in my 11 Caravan also and it was no slouch either! I do think my next Durango will have a Hemi just for the novelty (and power, exhaust sound, etc...)

SO let's hear your thoughts on the Pentastar 3.6L!

I have the Pentastar V-6 in my law enforcement Durango. Its AWD too. The engine is smooth and has plenty of power when needed. She'll cruise all day at 110mph without issue. It gets around great in the snow...love it!

When I bought my personal Durango 3 weeks ago I knew I'd like the V-6 but opted for the Hemi R/T just because I do missing having a V-8 with a few extra horsepower.

Both are great engines.

Nice! I probably would have Hemi Envy but I have a 13 Ram with a Hemi! I absolutely love it! My wife drives the Durango and she really don't care about engines at all...LOL

I bought a used 2012 rent-a-car V6 DD 24 months ago and have no major problems.
Power is certainly adequate for normal driving, mpg is fine at 75-80 (24+/-), handling is much better than I expected for being truck, no TIPM issues, no left head problems, no elec. glitches, nothing.
My only issue is that, for my tastes, it is too slow in the downshift at stop signs. Granted, I prefer to genuflect more than stop, and the downshift to first is often a tad slower than my foot is to accelerate, consequently it occasionally might slam the thing into first -- ka-chunk!
I have RWD so I don't have to worry about AWD stuff. I love auto/stick option, though my wife forbids me to use it when she's in the car. She complains that I'm going to blow up the engine -- this while I'm taching up to 3000 rpm. If I took to 5G with her in it I'd be on the couch for 6 weeks.

I have 113K on my '11 DD Express AWD and coming up on 4 year i still absolutely love it. The power is perfect for my uses such as highway passing. The specs are not that much lower than the hemi. I must say i have not driven a Hemi DD, however i do have a 08 Challenger SRT8 with a 6.1 Hemi and oh baby does it have power!

We got a free upgrade at the rental company and by chance it was a V6 Durango Crew. My wife is not into cars at all, she normally drove our 12 year old Nissan Altima. She would not stop raving about the Durango (great travel car!) so we ditched the Nissan and got our 2011 Crew AWD V6.

Ours is better equipped than the rental so my wife is even happier still.

2012 Crew AWD (loaded just short of a Citadel). I love the thing, but wish I had gone for the Hemi. Engine is smooth but I miss having the extra power of my old Maxima.

The handling and features are great though. Downshifts are a little slow, I suspect the newer models solved this. Overall a great SUV.

2012 Crew - my wife's car. She loves it, especially since it doesn't look like a jacked up station wagon/SUV.

Would be nice to have the hemi, but I've got a 2006 Infiniti M45 that has a V8 as my daily driver, so I can do my Speed Racer impression in my car.

I have a 13 SXT w/ the 3.6.. before that I had an '11 with the same engine - I would have loved a semi but with the driving I do I think I'd constantly be at a gas station. (70+ miles a day and a lot of stop and go traffic and lights). I've also never had anything really fast.. Before my Durango's I had a Subaru Forester, Saturn Vue, 6 Cyl Chevy Blazer.. heck - even my first car was a 4 cyl. Mustang! (loved that slow little thing). I think I'd get myself in trouble with too much speed.

Haven't had any issues with the engine - theres enough power for me and rides nice and smooth.
