Default H Pipe or X pipe ?, 2 days to decide

So I talked to a performance exhaust shop near Philly, and the guys said he'd do Hpipe ($250), or Xpipe ($300).

I originally showed him WashMan's great pictures of the Hpipe, but he said he likes Xpipes. He felt it had better flow. He had no comment on the sound difference.

What do you guys think ?
TIA....

I think an X-pipe will always flow better. But I think his price is too high.

I paid $200 for an X-pipe and a pair of Magnaflow Glasspacks(replaced the suitcase on my '13 Citadel), installed by a reputable shop.

Probably no wrong decision. But remember, with the X you are forcing 2 into 1 at the junction creating unnecessary restriction and pressure. With the H you have 2 separate runs that can balance pressure if needed. I went into the performance exhaust shop asking for an X and the guy talked me into the H.

Again, probably no wrong move either way.

WOW, that seems very low cost.
I'm near Philly, our Labor rates are approaching $100 an hour at any reputable shop, unless you find a small Mom and Pop, or a friend.

How much were the Glass packs and X pipe ? I've seen guys with the Xpipe on Amazon for over $100.......doesn't leave much room for Labor unless you cross the Border.

I second that. OTOH, the X-pipe looks cooler when you do wheelies. :-)

ok we have had this discussion at length among our mustang performance club. The summary is x has a more raspy sound and h pipe will be a deeper sound, the x scavenges exhaust gasses better than h, h pipe still balances pressures, if you are going to have a chambered muffler the h pipe works better, if you are going to have a straight through glasspack style muffler the x pipe will perform better. So if you can look through your muffler and see straight through x pipe will be the better choice. I have had both on my cars (not my v6 DD) and this above is all from my experience with them and some added filler from conversations and experience from others. I would also shop around on price and get at least one other quote.

$50 for the X-pipe, $25 each for the GPs and $100 labor.

Does anyone know if the suitcase muffler is true duel in and out or able to equalize the exhaust inside before exiting? Thanks Mark

I went with the H.....and MAN what amazing sound difference. I can't stop driving it everywhere with the windows down.
Real deep growl at startup....and launching, even at very low throttle, has a very nice deep V8 sound. Nice little increase in feel as well !
