Remove interior trim to access the nuts holding the taillight assembly.

Not hard, but don't use too much force to protect plastic parts.

Are all of your taillights out, just the liftgate bulbs (2 of them per side), or the taillight/brake light? I don't see any lights working in the image which is why I ask. The taillight/brake light is much easier to change than the liftgate bulbs, but it looks like the prior posts have the process to change them covered. If all the bulbs are out on the passenger side though, you might be looking at a wiring issue....

OK, I got the taillight assy out and tested the bulbs and they are both good. I used a test light on the turn sig connector and there was no power to that connector. The strange thing is that when I move the turn stalk to the right the sig will work for 2 or three flashes then go out ? Could this be a flasher problem and if so where is the flasher located?

There are no flashers anymore; there is simply a line of code in the computer that says it should flash x flashes per second when normal and y flashes per second when a fault is detected. The control module monitors the returning wattage and if the returning wattage is too high (bulb not using it) it signifies a fault with 'hyperflash'.

It seems very odd for the lamps to work and then not; it sounds like the body control module is detecting a fault (perhaps a short) and is cutting power to that circuit.

Are you getting a "bulb out" indication in the information center or the "hyperflash" when using turn signals? Have you tried the 4-way flashers / hazard lights to see if the bulb works in that mode?

Also, does your Durango have trailer wiring and if so, does it appear to be aftermarket? I've fixed several brake light/taillight issues caused by poor installations of aftermarket trailer wiring.

Yes I get the hyperflash and a message "Bulb Out" in the information center. So, no turn signals, no brake lite and no 4- way flashers. All trailer wiring is stock. I removed the bulbs and they are good and I have running lights.

Update on the taillight problem. Well I gave up and pushed the taillight assy back into place and brought my truck to the Dodge Dealer. I am thinking to myself: Self this is going to hurt. Anyhow they call and say my truck is ready and I don't ask "How Much". I bring the RO to the cashier and she say 2016 and I almost faint. I say, say that again and she say's $20.61 . The problem was a defective bulb? I always thought that a bulb was either good or no good but the tech must of ran into this problem before because his trouble shooting time was only .3 tenths of an hr. and the bulb was $8.00. I bench tested that bulb and it was good. I think that if I would of held the power to the bulb longer it would of gone out. Anyhow this honest dealer is Brookdale Dodge in Brooklyn Center, MN.
