Angry DodgeCares -- not so much

I suspect this complaint is not your responsibility, but here goes anyway -- the Search New Inventory function on your Build and Price app really sucks. I'm serious. Really, really sucks.
It doesn't seem to matter what parameters I put into it the results are never anywhere close to what I've asked for. It tells me how many DDs are available within XX miles of me then ignores my parameters and lists what is available at dealers in my area. It is really quite frustrating and reflects poorly on Dodge and it's claim "Dodge Cares."
It's my experience that most new/used car purchases these days start with checking out the many cars sites on the internet. Thus, you'd think dealers and manufacturers would work hand to keep their web sites current and accurate to capture as much business as possible. While the Dodge site is certainly easy to navigate, everything seems to fall apart when the customer gets to Search New Inventory, which simply does not respond as anticipated.
Anyway, end of rant. Please pass this along to your geeks and nerds to see if they can fix this thing before the site scares away any more potential customers.
Thanks for listening.

I'd be willing to bet that the problem at it's root is with the dealer network. Dealers are lazy, self-serving dinosaurs who think they are entitled to your money. Failure to upload current inventory, lack of actual photos and incorrect or misleading vehicle information seems to be the norm when searching new vehicle inventory. They'd rather you just come in and get the ol' shakedown and end up driving something off the lot that they want to get rid of, not having you find what you actually want for the price you want to buy it at.

Buying cars online (i.e. the whole process online like buying a shirt on Amazon) is the wave of the future, and the first company that comes along and can do it successfully will be extraordinarily successful.

i'm not a sales guy. this i do know...inventory comes and goes pretty fast in a busy dealership... the IT guy probably shows up once a week to update the listings. as a salesperson, if you don't do at least 10 sales a month each, you don't make it.

i hear in europe dealers don't stock large inventory...1 model of each vehicle...you see it, pick your options then wait for the vehicle to be built/arrive. Can anyone confirm this?

So you have never heard of Carvana? http://www.carvana.com/

It's only for used cars for now, but I can see this being an interesting premise.

Vehicle manufactures do not care about the individual needs of all of their customers or the potential customer.

They have Dealerships for that.

Money talks and people will listen........

FCA is aware of ALL inventory on the lots. It's up to them to make it work in search. I agree though, the car sales methods need to change with the times. It's still fluff, pagantry and tactics as it always was and it's a tired, tired business model. People don't walk into showrooms stupid anymore.

Cares is a dept that fields customer complaints and helps customers get to the right dealer, get out of warranty and IN warranty answers to get their issues resolved, etc. The only problem I have with Cares is that it is compartmentalized like every other part of FCA. They have no function in corporate decisions whatsoever. They are on here of their own accord to intercede for the forum members who have legitimate beefs. You all need to abandon this frame of mind where everyone who works on your car, at a dealership or answers a phone call or a forum post has something to do with FCA corporate. This is not the case.

To be honest, if a real FCA corporate individual came on here, that person would get the textual beat down of their lifetime first and foremost from ME. The rest of you could have sloppy seconds.

This does nothing but prove my point exactly. Any dealer who cares so little about having a current, accurate and engaging online presence that they only have the "IT guy" come in once a week is bound to be a loser in this online age.

If XYZ Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram wants to compete and move product, they ought to have at least one guy whose ONLY job it is to just constantly update and refine the dealership's online inventory of new and used stock, verify it's accuracy and maybe be there to take "chat requests" and emails from prospective buyers. It's tedious work but I bet there's people who would line up for that job if it meant a steady paycheck and benefits. Maybe pluck one of the TEN guys with neatly trimmed beards standing in a circle in front of the showroom doors in JC Penney suits and enormous watches and make that their job every day.

Further...these dealers need to get onto Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. ALL DAY LONG. Some kid who wants a Challenger tosses a random message at a cool Challenger pic on Insta and his local dealer hits him up 2 minutes later with how easy it would be for him to own one....KA-CHING. Sale.
Interact with the 20-somethings with some witty banter about how utterly cool Dodges are right now. Make it feel as much like an online buying experience as possible, because THAT IS WHAT THEY WANT. Have them come in to sign the papers and pick up the keys, that's it. I'm telling you, that's where this is going.

Just a thought.
