I'm going to build a home made setup too, using just what he said. A 3" tube from home depot, with K&N cone filters on both ends. I'm just going to cut the stock large round base that hooks to the intake on my 5.9, cut a same size hole in the pvc, and then use JB weld to close it up, and a layer of structural silicone over that to air seal. Should work well.

if your talking about the hat on top...theres not a clean air way. The better the flow of air....better the performance.

Im new to the whole truck moding and i hear that kn filters need a whole lot of up keep. someone i work with says he dusted his engine and had to buy a new one. just wondering if anyone has had any problems with that and how much up keep do they really need.
