Yep, that box has main purposes of reducing noise and HP. I wanted more of both.

one day my broke @$$ will be able to afford the vararam intake it looks so bad @$$! i wonder if it would fit on a bigger throttle body... any ideas?

I built one myself....and I gotta tell ya, it raised a few HP's. I havent had mine dyno'd since the custom work...but i must say, I gain'd 2 sec down the track. I did do a mod like this on a hemi and the improvement was masive after the flash. Gotta get these rams to breath.

What did you use for this setup? What year and engine is it on?

It's on a my 3.7 and its a 3 inch test tube PVC...pick it up at home depot

I'm going to build a home made setup too, using just what he said. A 3" tube from home depot, with K&N cone filters on both ends. I'm just going to cut the stock large round base that hooks to the intake on my 5.9, cut a same size hole in the pvc, and then use JB weld to close it up, and a layer of structural silicone over that to air seal. Should work well.

if your talking about the hat on top...theres not a clean air way. The better the flow of air....better the performance.

Im new to the whole truck moding and i hear that kn filters need a whole lot of up keep. someone i work with says he dusted his engine and had to buy a new one. just wondering if anyone has had any problems with that and how much up keep do they really need.
