Yea I wouldn't do a flush, maybe just do a couple shorter OCI's w/ a good cleaning synthetic like Pennzoil platinum. You could also do one w/ dino and some marvel mystery oil as it is supposed to clean up w/o the harshness of a flush.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. Dino oil is cheap, so I figured an oil change now with dino oil and half a can of SeaFoam, another oil change with dino and SeaFoam 1500 miles from now, and then a full Mobile1 change 1500 miles after that. I do have Marvel that I use to use to fog my bike for the winter, but I've used SeaFoam my whole life with positive effects. Is MMO better/worse than SeaFoam in the crank case. MMO is a lot cheaper I know, and a tiny bit thicker.

MMO is less harsh than Seafoam and still gets the job done, so IMO it's better to use it in the oil than seafoam.

Everybody is listing the brand and type of oil that use, what about the weight?

Mobil One with a Purolator filter. 5W-30 in winter 10W-30 in summer for the last 6 oil changes. I've used the Seafoam to clean it out plus it's on sale at Advanced Auto every few months. Is Marvin Mystery Oil a better product to keep it clean??

At 73,000 miles, i have just switched to Mobil 1 5W-20 with a Mobil 1 filter. I read the oil filter review someone linked and it was rated one of the best. Plus WalMart sells them as do all my local parts stores.

I too am interested in Marvel Mystery Oil as an additive. I remember back in the 60's, 70's and 80's it was very popular. But you bareley hear anything about it anymore. I would think that with incredible quality synthetics and regular oil changes, Mystery Oil is not really needed anymore.

MMO and seafoam are both usually used in cases of neglect or where you pick up a car w/ a questionable history. Both clean, but MMO is less harsh than seafoam. Any decent syn. whether it's Mobil 1, Pennzoil platinum, or valvoline synpower will clean up what dino oil or neglect left behind, MMO and seafoam in the crankcase are just quicker.

SuperTech AKA Wal-Mart Brand Conventional 5W-20, which is rarely on the shelves in the 5 quart size(probably becasue it's not in demand rather than it flying off the shelves). I have changed every 3000 miles since I got my HEMI at 40,000. I've got 98,500 miles now and have never had a problem with it (because of motor oil). I know I'm nearly two years late on this poll....

Seeing as we usually have 6-7 months of snow on the ground up here, with temps in the -20 to -40 range, I only run Amsoil 15-40 full syn with an oil pan heater. The filter of choice for me is the Amsoil Syn filter to go with the oil. If you look at the specs, Amsoil is about the same price as Mobil 1 but far outperforms it.
