not sure why you would want to rev it that high when you're not going anywhere but i do know that its bad for the engine to free rev with no load. 3800 is safe and i'd say even up to about 4500 would be safe but red lining an engine with no load is bad.
hey im thinking of buying oen of these super chips but can you change the rev limiter in park and nuetral? it only lets me hit 3800 rpm?
matt
Matt, I believe, for newer (06+? may be 07+) years, there's a built-in rev limit in the PCM of 4K while in park or neutral. You can change Rev Limiter under WOT up to 6500 for the Hemi. I don't know if the 4.7 has the same limit.
yeh i have a 2008 5.7 l with k&n cai magnaflow exhaust and taken off so far about 300-350 pounds off. just wondering which chip to get.
It depends...on what your long term plans are for your truck. If you plan on engine modes; cam, headers... then Diablo or SCT would be the way to go because they offer custom tunes and SC does not. If not then SC is a great choice because it will give you the full trans control we're beta testing. DAQ may be slightly better with SC but Diablo and SC have many of the same functions and you'll find they will leap-frog each other every few years.
matt look in the classifieds 04hemigreg has one for sale in there it brand new....
Jay, thanks, you are a standup guy in my book. Yes, I do have one for sale. I just bought it but my truck apparently has a non-standard stock ECM program and the SC's won't work for me. Tech support has been working on it but no answer so far. They did confirm for me that the programmer is fine, though - the issue is my truck. They seem to have a great tech support team and are very friendly and helpful. But I've made a personal decision to just sell it for now.
