I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4X4 with the 5.2. I am looking for some additional power when I tow my 25" boat. My top end towing is fine, I need help accelerating from a complete stop. Will a Superchip help??

 

It will help, just hard to say how much. I'd try to borrow one to try out before I spent the money. SC claims like 22 HP and 25 ft.lbs. of torque, on the performance tune.

 

any one else having problems with there vivid linq not showing true values, or values at all on certain PIDs? I.E like cat temps, current gear. intake air pressure..

 

Its common for some tuners not to show all PIDs that you see avail in the tuner. This varies from vehicle to vehicle based on the PCM programmed language. Not all PIDs will be compatible.

 

and what about the Tranny upgrade. the $40 download upgrade, is it worth it? what does it really do

I am here as a newbie to this sight. As of today I am the proud owner of a 2007 1500 5.7l HEMI. Its a 4x4 quad cab auto trans. This truck is pretty much stock however I would like to start making some upgrades...starting with a chip/programer. I would like to get as much power and mpg as possible but on a budget. Could everyone please give me some advice as well as some general info on how chips work...how to install...where to buy....how much....which brand...etc...

First of all don't call programmers chips, you'll confuse people they will think you're talking about the crap things they sell on ebay that, by the way don't work and are a total waste of money.

That said you have three options, Edge, SuperChips and Diablo. Most guys are opting for SC, since you have an 07 you have the ability to run the Edge, I have used this programmer and found it to be a very nice unit, with good feature. Last is the Diablo Sport tuner, this is the only tuner that has the ability to do after market custom tunes. Oh and the Trinity that is kind of a cross between the Edge and Predator.

You should really decide what direction you are planning to take your truck then decide on the programmer.

 

Someone posted for me what the Superchips 3865 will work for on Dodge vehicles. I have searched and cannot find it if someone could post if for me again I would appreciate it. Specficcally if it will work on a 1999 Dodge 5.9
