Lol i thought mine with 150,000 miles on them were bad but 200k makes me feel better.
I did have a frozen plug hope you dont.

And yes do stick with the Champion Coppers they are rated for 30,000 miles and are Trucks are quite picky about the plug.

You had a melted plug, when you state that you change them once or twice a year. I'd run like hell from NGK if that happened. Are you spraying your truck or something?

I'll run nothing but the plug this 5.7 was designed, hard tested with, copper Champions. Eight years old and still screaming strong.

Looking at changing plugs on my 05 2500 w/86K. Thought I might put Iridiums under the coil packs and plain copper at the end of the plug wires since these are the waste spark. wondered if anyone has mixed them up like this?

I don't understand why this still comes up. Just save yourself the money and time and get 16 copper Champion or NGK plugs. It's pretty simple fellas

I also recommend coating the spark plug threads only, with anti seize. I went almost 70k (sorry to say but I was busy) before I changed the plugs. They came right out NO prob.

FWIW, the Champion plugs, in my experience don't rust up and seize as badly as the Autolites do. I pulled 35k old plugs out of my dad's 4.7, but threaded right out, no antiseize on the threads.

It probably comes up because it does not save you time when you have to change them every 30,000 miles.Save Money, yes but definately not time or work. And some people realize that these engines will run on a number of different plugs and run perfectly. This Champion copper wives tale is exactly that, and also the ridiculous 30,000 mile change period. Got 60,000 miles right now on a set of autolite double platinums and still running perfectly, so no one is going to convince me that other plugs wont run in a hemi truck. Really it's not even saving you money, considering you're going through two to three sets of Chumpions compared to my one set of Autolite Double platinums
