04 Quad Cab Ram 1500...16.3 mpg.

 

ummmm... im not getting MPG... im getting more like GPM!

 

08 MDS Hemi, quad cab, 4x4, I get 15 around town and 17 highway. Sticker says i should get 22 highway.

This is off subject but I am losing oil. About a half a quart a week. I only have 48 thousand miles on my truck. It doesn't smoke, run weird, or anything like that. I can't find a leak anywhere. Is this a normality for the MDS engine?

 

07 QC HEMI 15.6 MPG mixed driving, but primarily highway (but with traffic)

 

I have a 05 qc with 5.7 I got 18.9 manually calculated on a trip where 80% on interstate at 70mph. Rest stop and go. Just for info the computer needs to be reset when driving conditions change per the owners manual. So if somebody drives the same way all the time computer should be pretty close. I would still manually calculate though

 

My 4.7 went from 17 mpg avg to over 22 by simply disconnecting the IAT sensor and wiring a 0-70K ohm pot in place of it. While monitoring the IAT display on my scangage, I vary the intake temp input to the ECM from outside air temp up to 115 degrees once I've been down the road a half mile or so. No change in performance, just a 5 mpg jump. I used to get just under 500 miles on a tank of gas, now I'm going 680 between fillups.

 

2002 Ram 1500 short bed with fiberglass cap / 4.7L automatic. Stinks! 9 around town, best miles ever on highway 16. Average mix 14 mpg. Still waiting for some one to invent a transmission lock up controller for this electronic piece of junk tranny. better more agressive Lock up control would increase the miles dramaticaly.

 

Got 18.8 MPG Canadian Yesterday, my best ever. (Yep only cause Imp gallon is 4.5L vs 3.75L for US gallon I think) anyhow the overhead US MPG reading was 15.6 (driving at 120-130 KPH 70-80 MPH)

On my overhead I got a reading choice of US MPG or how many liters used per 100Km.

I also noticed that when the reading hits 15.1 MPG US it will also read you are using 15.1 L/100Km, when switching those modes kinda like when -40 F meets -40 C in the winter.

 

I don't care what anyone says. I still maintain that these trucks are limited via the ecu to around 20mpg or less. I drive like a granny and get 14. If i drive like a madman, I usually pull 14 or more! Explain that one to me.

 

okay. magnum motors are meant to be run hard. if you drive like a granny, your not driving in the powerband of the motor, being less efficient. if you drive hard, and keep rpm's in the powerband, you make more power, getplaces quicker, and are more efficient. i noticed this on my truck also. just drive a magnum like its meant to be driven and you'll get better mpg.
