My new 2005 2500 w/ 6 spd stick has 500 miles on it, almost all highway, is getting 15 mpg on 87 octane--yes I'm babying it right now! But it runs great! And yes, it already has the Hemi Tick when you start it up and let it sit for a few minutes to warm up. The oil gets changed this weekend.

I find it very hard to believe these numbers I'm reading from some of these posts.

I'm sure that several of us would be willing to post some pictures of the current readings on the overhead console including the miles since last reset and MPG. If anyone had bought their truck new there was an area on the window sticker that states estimated MPG. Mine said 13 City and 18 Highway. With those as estimates it really shouldn't be difficult to believe the numbers your reading.

we've noticed that the hemi gets best MPG city and highway on 87, and 89 on the occasions where we've worked it a bit hard.

I'd take any computer readings with a big grain of salt. I've got a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0L straight six. It's got the same computer MPG system as any recent Mopar product, though (since Jeeps ARE Mopars).

The computer likes to inflate actual MPG on my Jeep. If I do highway driving, the computer will read about 22 mpg. Actual mpg as calculated by how many miles I drove divided by what I put into the tank when I fill up will read about 18 or 19, depending on tire pressure, driving style, how many hills, air temperature, brand of gas, how many people in the car, etc.....

I recently went on a fishing trip (towing a jonboat -15' with 25 hp engine-, canoe, 4 people including me, and a weeks worth of gear/clothes) and got 16.8 mpg. That's going between 75-90 mph. The computer said I was getting 19.

Most of the numbers that have been posted that have been taken from the computer you can be pretty sure are skewed by at least 1 mpg. But even that probably varies from vehicle to vehicle, depending on calibration at the factory.

I wouldn never trust what the Mopar computer says you are getting. The only way to know for real is to physically calculate it.

my first road trip today...Im close to 1000 miles. As I have said before my 05 hemi, QC, 1500, Laramie is averaging 13.5 combined...driving 30-35 miles per day. I have also checked my calculations against the computer and it's never been more than .50 mpg difference. I was shocked today after driving about an hour and a half at a variety of speeds. 50-75 mph the truck pulled down 17.0 mpg. this was with the a/c on for the first 45 minutes and then the windows went down and the sunroof was open for the rest of the time. my truck is completely stock except for a pace edwards jack rabbit tonneau cover. to say the least I am happy with this truck. I have a mopar cold air intake and borla exhaust laying the garage...I am going to wait a little longer to install as I want to really see if they make a difference.

Well, I was thoroughly surprised today at the pump when I filled up and checked my mpg by hand. Came out with a 17.35 mpg. I triple checked to make sure I didn't mess up. I filled up at a quarter tank (26 gallon tank) and put in about 20 gallons. Saturday I drove to Columbus from Dayton, bout an hour drive each way at a constant 70 mph. Plus the regular to and from work wear yesterday. My console was only off this time by 0.15, which is the closest its EVER been, I still don't trust it most of the time. But I was pleased today so oh well. Just hope I actually filled the tank, haha.
