I've got a stock 2500, I baby it and get like 9mpg like 85% city, 15% highway. Tailgate off really didn't do anything. I don't know why I'm doing so bad on gas.
After plowing for an hour or so (non-commercial) I was averaging about 6.5mpg
It sounded pretty much like crap when I saw the infomercial, but I was at a 4x4 shop here and the guys there told me that the 'Tornado' was helping out the 4.7 guys with mileage quite a bit. I put one in the 4.7 and also in the HEMI and they were right. you have to make sure to disconnect the battery and reset the computer when you put it in. by the way.. it really does only work in the 4.7, did nothing for the 5.7. a warning to you though.. if you choose to spend the $65 or $70 on one, make sure it's the right size before you leave. it should fit snug in the hose coming off the top right side of your airbox. i bought mine at autozone and the book they had listed a 35 or 40 mm diameter i believe and the one that actually fits the 4.7 (2002) was something like a 55 mm.
I've yet to put a cover on mine, but word is... tonneau covers will get you one or two mpg better also.
has anybody tried putting a more efficient intake system on a HEMI? i've thought about it several times and if there is a noticeble difference in power or mileage i will more than likely go that route, but i've never heard anybody really claim they've been that much of an advantage.

06 Hemi Ram no mods done yet! Truck is pretty much brand new(2 weeks old and only 'bout 400 miles(700 kms) and I've filled up 3 times. Figured it out to be 'round 10 mpg. I know it still needs to get broken in and I have been trying soooo hard to stay off the pedal, but having always driven a Bowtie, it sure is a great feeling being behind the wheel of the Ram! Besides, what's the use of having a truck like this and not enjoying it.
Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and have a new 06 2500 QC LB 6 speed manual 4X4 CTD. First fillup (full to neck) @ 475 mi netted 18.28 mpg hand calculated. Mostly commuting to work 30 mi in each direction on 2 lane hwy @ 60-65 mph. Havn't had a chance (yet) to see what this baby will do, which may explain the decent fuel economy. My wife calls it 'The Beast', but I'm enjoying my truck.
how are you stock guys averaging numbers like 14?ive got an 02 ram 1500 quad cab sport, totally stock right now and im getting 10.8 mpg.i dont drive fast,so thats not why its so bad.
