Default 06+ 4.7 vs hemi

(just wanted to apologize in advance if this is a repeat, ive searched over and over but cant find anything)

im looking to buy a 06 or newer truck in the upcoming months. i currently have an 04 qcrb, with the 4.7 w/ intake, exhaust, and sc tuner. and well its alright. my father has a 08 qcrb with the hemi, and man that thing is quick and fits my taste. i bought the truck i have now do to a quick decision needing to be made, but otherwise i wanted a hemi.

i believe for the 06 and newer they rebuilt the top ends on them? iso they're putting out more power. so what are you guys with newer years thinking about the 4.7 vs the hemi engine? im finding some decent deals on 4.7 but the hemis hold they're value and are all sitting around $20k

but ive learned over the years, to do things right the first time around, so spending the extra money is quite tempting, but if its not necessary, then no need to

no its just the 08+ 4.7 that is newly rebuilt. 06-07 are still the same engine as yours...

newer 4.7's still won't touch the Hemi's. Now with the 09 hemi's having 390hp...I would really try to get a 5.7L if that's what your looking for. Not much MPG diff for th extra power increase either.
Eitherway, the newer 4.7L will def be an improvement over what you have now.

well that solves that problem.

and as for the 09+ is it just me or are the beds much smaller than older years? to me they look tiny, especially since i work construction and use the bed daily

I'm pretty sure the beds are the same unless you get a crew cab ram box. I'd really like to see an 08 4.7 w/ a manual dyno'd vs. an 08 hemi auto to compare the drivetrain loss, I think they'd be pretty close in power.

08 4.7L = 310hp 330 lb/ft
08 5.7L = 345hp 375 lb/ft
09 5.7L = 390hp 409 lb/ft

with these godawful auto trannys, you're probably right. Id bet a RC 6spd 4.7 would be a purrty close match to an auto QC hemi.....

Ya got me interested now, time to do some youtubing

i have a 4.7 and have driven a hemi same year. the hemi has way more power, you can feel it when you drive both.

Oh yeah, all other things equal (ie body, tranny, etc) the hemi will outperform the 4.7 anyday, in stock form of course.

The manual tranny will have (far) less drivetrain hp loss than the auto will, thats where we got to talking about comparing the 4.7/5.7......

Still haven't found a dynosheet on a 4.7 6spd...........
