Default BLEACH in gas tank!!!

Im so f******* pissed guys! i woke up this morning to find that my once smooth running hemi was on the verge of stalling when i turned it on. i got it towed to the shop and they said they could smell bleach coming from the gas tank!!! im gonna have to get a whole new fuel system and gas tank now, not to mention the fact that if enough bleach was poured in it could rust out my engine and cause it to seize for good!! what kind of person does this s***?! I dont have problems with anyone, the only thing i can think is that i live in a nice neighborhood which is located next to a "ghetto" one. my neighbor had his truck keyed not long ago too, why do these people do this s*** guys?! i dont understand, do they get a thrill out of knowing that the owner is gonna have to shell out a good grand or two to fix it????!!!!!

what really pisses me off is that i just got this truck a month ago, AND i had money saved to put on an at3030 muffler this week, now god knows if im even gonna be able to keep it. I still had that new love for the truck, this hurts guys, it hurts...if i ever find the person that did this!

Im sorry to hear that! Yeah, men can really be disappointing at times as to how awful they can be. I hope that it all works out for you, it would be really disappointing to lose a DF member over some stupid jealous A-hole.

Yeah I got home tonight to find out some hobo was snooping around in the backyard, now my gf is making me go out and check it lol.

Ah man that sucks, I hope it ends up being something not so major...

Things like this are just one more reason why I keep mine locked up tight in the garage and a .38 in the night stand.

Bleach, I haven't heard that one before. Can't the tank be drained and the lines flushed?? May need to open the fuel rail and blow it clean. But this should be recoverable. Still, towing, shop cost and lost of time isn't cheap. But your insurance should step in for vandal related damage. Sometimes home owners will also cover some damages.

Sorry too Man. Damn Civy Punks.. I never actually use the lock on my gas cap but maybe I should.. Surely the tank / rails could be disassembled and cleaned?..any chemists out there can offer a Decon solution?

If I recall the bleach tends to stay in the tanks and the fuel lines, there isn't really a great cleaning solution for a cleaning agent lol... kinda weird right. But of course the comment made earlier about insurance coverage should be accurate. I hope this all gets worked out though, and it is probably cheaper to get it all replaced than to try and get it cleaned out. Think about it like this, maybe you could turn this into a mod, up to the 35 gallon tank.
