woah thats not good, it sat overnight, i started it up in the morning and drove a block before i shut it off, then i started it up a couple more times but didnt drive it anywhere. Do you think that was enough to take out the pistons and cylinder walls?

I honestly don't know brother as we don't know how long it was in the tank before you started having trouble. I would certainly talk to your mechanics about it, as most people aren't even aware that bleach can do this. If you show them the link I posted up, I'm sure they will check it out for you. Unfortunately the best way to check the pistons and rings is to remove the cylinder heads and inspect the cylinders.

It will tear up the engine, Fuel lines, Pump, etc... To be fair to the mythbusters, I knew about bleach long before they even existed. As a teen we did it to a few folks who really pissed us off. One of our teachers in high school had a nice BMW that got junked because of us. The fact that Bleach is an oxidizing agent in general has been known since its invention.

However there is something you can add with the bleach to really guarentee will tear up everything, But I wont tell what it is for fear that some idiot might pick it up to.

The sad thing is, even if you'd seen someone pouring it in the tank, you can't shoot them. All you can do is call the police, file a report, have your insurance fix it, and go on with life.

What happen to the days of S&W home defense without getting sued?

I don't blame the tv shows for anything. I'm amazed there are people who have never heard of using bleach in a gas tank. That's as old as styrofoam and sugar. Any person who just googles "how to ruin a car engine" will figure it out.

That's how it is in Cali, but not all states. Cali blows on laws.

Just another reason I am so looking forward to retiring in 2012 and moving back to Kansas.
