They turned out real good man. Looks much better black, and I think the black looks better than color matching would have.

Looks really good. I am definitely gnu to trynthis myself already ordered the paint to match my truck. After you heat it and are trying to separate do you just separate at the clips an pry between the clear and black plastic at the same time?

Well, in hindsight I wish I would have done it a little differently. When you pry, try to pry where the clips are NOT because they are really hard to put back together. Here's a little explanation:

When you heat the lights in the oven, the plastic becomes soft and you can pry the clips very easily, however, the clips bend up and when they cool they are stuck in that position. Now you have two options... Put them back in the oven just before you try to put them back together (which I don't recommend because they will be very hot and you need to press them together at every angle with all your might) OR push on the clips as hard as you can until your fingers are killing you and your arms are tired which is the way that I chose. A good way to avoid a little of this pain is to not pry on the clips so that they don't get bent too bad.

Pop the clips up and pry around them so that you don't have this problem. My headlights came apart pretty easily. I would say that after the 10 minutes in the oven at 250* it took me about 5 minutes per headlight to have it in the three pieces. Like Matt99 said, just take your time and it will turn out nicely. Oh and I hope you have a big oven, these headlights are HUGE! You don't notice it until you get them off of the truck, mine barely fit in the oven. haha

Thanks a lot man. Just to make sure I got this right: I heat the light up and then your sayin to unclip the latches by hand and then pry around everywhere else? Also have you ever heard of or used 3M Window-Weld Ribbon Kit? I have had a lot of people swear by this stuff to me for resealing the light. Just wondering if anyone on here has used it or knew about it.

Really? The adhesive that I used was hard to squeeze a bead all the way around the headlight because it is so thick. If it came in a roll or something like that, that would make it 10x easier.

You can un-clip the clips with a flathead screwdriver just be careful not to bend them. This will all make more sense to you once you start the project. It's not real hard, just time consuming and patience testing.

Has anyone had these eye lids done for a while, and are you located in a winter climate...I'm curious as to how well the paint holds up on the lens surface. Also wondering if the inner bezel being painted instead of chrome dulls the projection of the lighting making them noticeably dimmer, and do the eye lids affect it with dimmness in any way??

Thanks

cant comment on the cold climate thing since I live in LA

The bezel shouldn't affect light output because the light shouldn't hit the bezel. Actually if any light was reflected off of the lens onto the bezel, it would actually clean up the beam with it being a darker absorbent color versus chrome.

My eyelids didnt do anything to light output. These WITH eyelids are still larger than the 02-05 ones

Well, being in LA, yours has seen a lot more pounding sun than mine ever will, how long have you had it done, and how has it held up to the heat and sun?
