I'm pretty sure if one car is going 20mph and the other, 50mph, you subtract the two speeds from each other and multiply by 2 and that's the total speed of the impact, so it would be a head on crash with a force of going 60mph...I learned these types of things in physics so I'm kind of sure this is how you would measure this lol..

Uh and the same speeds mean what? One is 60 the other is 60 60 minus 60 times two is zero' Steve, that makes no f87king sense. I'll stand by what i posted earlier.

right rocket. physics is one thing i paid attention to in school lol. Car 1 traveling at 60 mph hits car 2 traveling at 45 going the same direction. force of impact is 15 mph. car 1 and 2 are going opposite directions, force of impact is 105 mph. This is of course assuming all else is constant, which it never is. The vehicles always have a different mass, which results in different felt forces (which is why heavier vehicles always win... less felt forces). An extreme example is a freight train moving at 20 mph has a FAR greater impact than a passenger car going 70 mph and hitting the same object.

Yeah it's been some time since physics, the mass of both vehicles plays a factor of course
